Resumo: We are a non-profit school, with transformative pedagogy at the service of popular interests. We want to be, as an educational community, an active part of a diverse and moving society and work with the rest of local and international collectives for social justice in the world. The educational project offers the possibility of schooling children from 2 to 12 years old (in kindergarten and primary school) in a school approved by the Galician government and accredited by NEASC (New England Association of Schools and Colleges).

The Education Schools are a non-profit social initiative, initially driven by the Gentalha do Pichel and which aims to form, together with other similar projects, the necessary bases for the creation of the Galician National School. They take their name from the Galician Teaching Schools created at the beginning of the 20th century by the Irmandades da Fala and promoted by Leandro Carré and Ángelo Casal. Semente was born to give children the possibility of being in the world without giving up their identity. To demonstrate that all cultures matter, be they big or small. Why is it necessary to leave the mother tongue to acquire new and diverse languages?

Perfil: Age: 18-30

Tarefas: The volunteer will collaborate with the staff and other volunteers, contributing own initiatives and resources of own culture.

Activity 1: Cultivating Environmental Awareness:
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of didactic workshops on this matter for primary school students, support in the facilitation, conduction of some workshops, support in the group management…
- Design and implement didactic workshops proposed by themselves on environment education, bushcraft, creative recycling…
- Participate in creating a Nature Classroom in the school yard. The infrastructure will be finished by the end of Summer 2023, the intervention will be done inside.
- Participate and implement outdoor gardening activities.
- Implement or support implementing a proposal on environmental awareness in the Camino de Santiago. The trail from Santiago de Compostela to Fisterra passes next to the school.

Activity 2: Creativity And Arts:
- Participate in enabling one of the school spaces to create a music classroom.
- Assist, design and implement didactic workshops on different art disciplines: drama, music, paint, dances…
- Design and implement a proposal related to artivism as a tool of social change.

Activity 3: Linguistic and cultural immersion:
- Promote a language exchange (Galician language - the volunteer´s mother tongue) through daily interactions during the classes and the playground.
- Promote a cultural and language exchange through guided activities planned by the volunteer with that aim.
- Promote a literature exchange participating in our reading club Canto conto! which aims to motivate students to read and learn about different literature genres.
- Participate in the classroom routines and workshops, bringing up new ideas and promoting critical thinking and awareness on human rights, ethic values, feminism and diversity. The voulynteer will be invited to observe the way those issues are treated within the current learning process and, in continuation, they will be asked to contribute to this process leading activities related to those topics. They shall be free to lead the workshops by themselves or with the assistance/presence/guidance of the teaching board.

Condições: The volunteer will live in a flat, sharing it with other volunteers or students, in a single or double room. Furthermore the flat provides all items necessary for living: washing machine, heater, blankets, iron, dishes, internet, etc.
The organisation will cover the expenses of the flat (rent, supplies,…)
The volunteer will receive a monthly allowance and pocket money (at the beginning of each month) to manage their meals.
Volunteer will be driven to the center and home by the teachers.
