Brief description of the organisation:

Volunteers will be hosted at Cooperativa “Gli Aironi”, a social cooperative (type B), which aim is to accompany and introduce people cooping with mental distress or social disability into the labour market, by searching and creating employment opportunities in different professional sectors.

One of the main activities of “Gli Aironi” is the "job placement service" which aims to create specific pathways towards employment for disadvantaged people in the territory of Lomellina, creating the foundations for the definition of a methodological pathway into work.

The Cooperative “Gli Aironi” is managing at, together with the Cooperative “La Collina” a brand new structure, organized, with 5 residential appartments on the 1st floor and plenty of space on the ground floor for daily therapy and educational activities (training, technical workshops, accompaniment, listening and guidance activities) in order to respond to the needs of people experiencing mental, physical or existential distress. The final objective is to accompany them towards opportunities for inclusion, social integration and employment.

Perfil: Some elements that will help to realize a positive EVS experience:

A minimal knowledge of Italian language at oral level will help to accomplish a faster inclusion in the organization activities and facilitate a better communication with the operators (who unfortunately have few language skills) and the users.

We consider essential that the volunteer has a strong interest in social and employability issues and to working with disadvantaged persons.

Tarefas: Proposed activities for the volunteer:

- collaborate with the operators during the daily activities of the Cooperative (as well in the office at in the various indoor and outdoor activities with users)

- participate and collaborate in the “job placement service” and interact with various types of users

- Participate in activities of the integrated new structure of Garlasco, (the Autonomy Training Service, daily household management, participating in the organization of workshops)

- Participate in team meetings and planning activities that will include the development of a personal project.

Condições: The volunteer will live together with other European volunteers in an appartment in Pavia or Garlasco.
