Resumo: The organization is located in Kaunas, which is the second largest city of Lithuania (population in 2009 - ~ 350 000, in all of Lithuania ~ 3,3 million). Volunteers will have all the possibilities to daily enjoy a full scale city life (cafes, pubs, cinemas, night clubs, shopping centers, parks and so on) and also volunteers' community.
Kaunas is one of the most significant cities of Lithuania. It is not only a city of old traditions, but also a large centre of business and industry. It can also lay claim to be a city of young people with over 35,000 students studying at one of the seven universities here.
Hundreds of years of cultural heritage are preserved in the historical and architectural monuments, museums, theatres, art galleries and churches of Kaunas. In Kaunas we are proud of the importance that our people have played in contributing towards making the rich cultural, historical, and academic tapestry that is Lithuania.
For more information about the city, please visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaunas.
On the downside Kaunas is subject to common social problems of Lithuania (or East Europe in general): relatively high unemployment rate, lower living standards (as compared to western Europe, for example), post-communist influences, neglected industrial infrastructure, high youth emigration rates. This, on the other hand, can be viewed as a valuable cultural and socio-economic experience for foreigners.

Kids in the kindergarten are split in groups by age. Or rare exceptions brother and sisters of different age are placed in one group. Extracurricular activates are carried out in groups by age or mixed. The organization has 20 different extracurricular clubs. Volunteers will work in children groups, computer classes, the hall, the gym, the lab and other areas. Volunteers will be able to use all the available equipment necessary to carry out their activities.
Although the organization is Christian, it is by no means a monastery. Every Thursday the children attend the common prayer which lasts 10-15 minutes. During this time church affairs of the week as discussed too. Prayer before the meals is not regular; it is something we only seek for. September 1st is celebrated in the church, as well as some more important festivals. Volunteers do not have to be Catholics or believers, but should be open-minded and should be afraid of going into church. We understand this as a good example for kids. Overall, prospective candidates should take into consideration the Christian profile of our organization.

EVS volunteers are always accommodated in the vicinity of the working place (transport covered), they are provided with private rooms, they are always placed within a local community, have local mentors assigned for extra support etc.

Perfil: The general expected qualities of volunteers are: motivation to work and learn in a different socio-cultural environment, sociable character, flexibility in different situations, responsibility and the spirit of volunteering.
Due to the nature of work, volunteers should like children and enjoy communicating with them. Moreover, volunteers should be patient, kind, emotionally stable. Knowledge of English or Russian is an advantage. Volunteers should also provide a valid health certificate on arrival.
Being Christian naturally we expect that the values we believe in are respected and not despised. This, however, does not exempt volunteers of other faith (or no religious faith at all) from participation.

Tarefas: Mostly volunteers would work with the school and preschool age children. Volunteers could introduce new games, share knowledge about other cultures and customs. The role of the volunteer would be nurses assistant and children's friend. During the lesson time volunteers would help slower performing children or assist nurses with preschool age children with their tasks. During the afterhours the volunteers would act as older friends spending time with them and watching after them assisting in festive activities, concerts, campaigns etc. Their personal creative ideas could be realized while creating the theater performances, producing various art exhibitions, sports competitions, and others. The organization is open to cooperate in good will.

By participating in various activities of the institution the volunteers would be able to know:
- the specifics of working with pre-school and primary school-age children in Lithuania
- the institution and it's community
- Lithuanian people, their customs, traditions, celebrations
- practical Lithuanian language skills

There are quite a few extra-curricular clubs in the school: children's choir "sviesuoliukas", sea scout club, natures lovers' club, social skills' club, doll making/sewing studio, ceramics studio, folklore studio, computer enthusiasts' club, wool felting club. As these activities are spread over the working week, volunteers will be able to join most if not all of them.
Another extra-curricular side or the organization where volunteer ideas and contribution will be much appreciated is various festivals, special events, excursions. During the year the school organizes around 30 special events (sporting, community, festive, artistic, religious, theatre, events with/for parents and many others).

Horário: Bellow is an example of a typical day of a volunteer:
08:00 - 08:30 Morning meeting with the mentor (person responsible for the volunteers, the social pedagogue) to discuss the tasks of the day
08:30 - 11:00 participation in the kindergarten (3-6 year old children) activities (non formal education
