Our organization is an educational and organic farm. The farm is open to occasional volunteers, school groups, and visitors whether for weekend stays or daily tours. The aim of the educational farm is bridge the gap between children and nature and provide more contact and exposure in natural environments. In 2010, this organization has also expanded to work with young people with behavior problems/disorders. This is assisted by further family members and employees on site.
The target group includes anyone interested in farm work, farm life, the environment, farm animals, farm education, and children. Ideally, the people will share a passion for sustainable farming and sharing knowledge on nature with young people.

The main intention of this education farm is to enhance and create spaces for social contact between young people and nature. There are tours, programs, and activities to enhance this contact and play while on the farm. Regular activities may include helping with common care for the farm and animals (partly as a companion), keeping track of vegetable garden (partly as a supervisor), and accompanying school groups within the activities listen before.

Perfil: Age: 18-30
You are interested in farming, working with animals, sustainable lifestyle, and children. You don't mind rolling up your sleeves and doing physical work.You take initiative and are able to work independently. You help where needed. You can express yourself in English. You can provide a Code of Conduct. Because you live on the farm into a small town, it is preferred that you enjoy the rural countryside lifestyle, have a passion for personal projects, and that you can deal with groups of children. You are independently minded and you are able to entertain yourself in your spare time

Tarefas: The daily life at this beautiful educational eco-farm is centred around educating a selective group of children that do not fit within the regular educational system. During this project, the volunteer will mainly focus on farm related support with the animals, in the organic garden, and with the children.
Participants are encouraged to share their working knowledge, help facilitate meaningful activities, and develop projects based on their own interests. Activities include, among other things, common care for animals, gardening and harvesting veggies and fruit, maintenance of farm and land, educational activities with the children, and social activities within the village. The volunteer is stationed at the farm, which is located in the small village, on the countryside. Requirement: Volunteer applies for Certificate of Conduct (national equivalent)

Condições: Accommodation comprises a basic equipped private room within a farm stable, enabling to fully experience farm live. Facilities are shared and additional resources are present in the farmhouse utilities.
Breakfast and dinner are individual with a budget, lunch is done together with the children and the host on working days.
The close surroundings can be explored with bikes. A near bus stop connects you with a 30-min. bus ride to the Dutch railway network. Nearest cities: Leeuwarden & Groningen.
