Perfil: Viljampole Social Care Home is open for all young volunteers who are motivated to work, are flexible, comunicable, able to adapt to various situations, can work under stress. As the volunteer will interact a lot with mentally and physically handicapped children/youth, he/she must be tolerant and emotionaly stable.
All applications will be considered and evaluated based on how well they suit the general profile of an EVS volunteer and the requirements of the host placement in particular.

Tarefas: PROPOSED ACTIVITIES FOR EVS VOLUNTEERS

Viljampole Social Care Home provides a number of services and activities for the clients:
- nursing and medical rehabilitation,
- material provision,
- social rehabilitation and leisure time organization,
- specialized educational programmes,
- work therapy,
- supplementary educational services.

Not all activities are available to EVS volunteers having in mind the non-formal and non-professional profile of the service. Assistance would be the main role of EVS volunteers in the organization, although some fields of sole responsibility could be found as well. All depends on the individual volunteer and his/her willingness to be active and creative.

A number of activities are open for assistance from EVS volunteers:
- Nursing severe disabled children and youth: feeding, washing, changing diapers, exercisizing, lifting, etc.
- Teaching self service and household chores.
- Social rehabilitation and leisure time: assisting in organizing excursions, shopping, or simply walking outside.
- Assistance in work therapy groups: sewing, textile ware, knitting, embroidering, bouquet making, technical work (wood, metal works, simple appliance repairs), ceramics, cleaning the surroundings, work in the greenhouse.
- Assistance in sporting activities (general trainings, aerobics, basketball, sport festivals, etc)
- Asistance in groups of self expression in arts (art, music, theatre).

Proposed composition of volunteer tasks:
- nursing and medical rehabilitation - 60 %
- social rehabilitation and leisure time organization - 10 %
- volunteers initiatives - 15 %
- specialized educational programmes - 5 %
- work therapy - 5 %
- material provision - 5 %.

EVS volunteers will have an opportunity to involve in several of the activities mentioned above and create their own personal daily schedule. The activities in Vilijampole Social Care Home will teach young volunteers to take care of the ones in need, to be responsible for other people, to become more tolerant towards the disabled, to see, learn and apply methods of working with such people, to find and test ways to integrate them in the society. Apart from that volunteers will have to learn to be a part of the team and find their own, unique place in the organization. In general working with the local staff and for the local disabled will be challenge for a young person. If successful, the expected result is intercultural, emotional, psychological, informational and professional development of the volunteers in combination with increased quality and diversity of the host organization.
