Resumo: (volunteering teams project)

Our approach is to promote critical thinking regarding fundamental issues of the human being, such as violence, addictions, environmental crisis, discriminations and to let everyone find out for themselves what is the cause of all this chaos.
Every social worker, or youth worker wants to believe in a different world. A world with no violence, with solidarity, with joy and cooperation. Yet, if we look around that is almost happening nowhere. We want to try the other way around: instead of beginning from what we hope it should be, we want to start from where it actually is. Here in Siderno, Southern Italy, we have beautiful nature, clear blue waters, amazing mountains, great food, and yet people here live miserably, hating each other, not caring for the environment, being narrow-minded and so on. And as one can see, this is happening all
over the world: everywhere humans are pushed in the direction of isolation. So, we ask:
why?
Why can’t humans live peacefully? What is preventing us from doing it? If we can answer these questions we may find a new way of approaching our problems.

Perfil: Age: 18-30
The organization will be able to welcome 15 young volunteers aged from 18 to 30 from all around Europe. The volunteer may come from any culture, minority, ethnicity, race or religion.

We will welcome as well all those who might be suffering from rejection and discrimination, facing economic obstacles or with fewer opportunities, which are described below:
- Cultural differences: the volunteer may come from a different culture, minority, ethnicity, race or religion. We will welcome as well all those who are suffering from rejection and discrimination.
- Economic obstacles: volunteers who come from poor countries or regions, unemployed or from disadvantaged families. Those who do not have the necessary opportunities or resources to travel and participate in European mobility projects (Erasmus + and / or ESC).
- Geographical obstacles: volunteers living in rural areas, or isolated areas linked to social separation and consequently to other problems. Equal opportunities will be professed in every area and we will welcome volunteers who, with an open mind, want to learn our culture, the history and traditions of our community. All those who are ready for a stimulating experience and a desire to develop and improve their skills, will be welcomed under our guidance and our support.

Tarefas: - Plastic Battle Cleaning beach and avoid the use of plastic;
- Music Lab Express your creativity through music;
- Sports Activities organized sport games and physical literacy
- Trips and Escursions naturalistic excursion in the Calabrian territories (Gerace, Stilo, Scilla, Tropea, Pizzo Calabro);
- Cooking Classes Learning how to cook of our typical vegetarian dishes
- Trekking Experience a different way of leaving the calabrian nature

Our volunteers are co-creators of every activity.
In this way, from the beginning, they are involved and allowed to collaborate in the decision- making phase concerning what will happen during the implementation of the activities.

Horário: The volunteers will have 2 days off during the volunteering period.

Condições: Accommodation
A shared apartment with all the comforts will be provided by the YMCA. More precisely, the apartment will be equipped with a shared room and bathroom, heating system, electricity, water, internet connection, kitchen and shared living room. The apartment is located 10 minutes away from our main offices and it can be easily reached by walking.
Next, or at walking distance, to the apartment you can find: bars, shops, gyms, restaurants and pharmacies.
Volunteers are responsible for keeping the apartment and rooms clean. Internet will be provided in the apartment and in the office.

Food
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided by the YMCA. For the entire length of the project will be served wholesome vegetarian food, since the main focus of this project is the environmental crisis and the consumption of meat is one of the major causes of deforestation and pollution of the Earth.
The volunteering team will also be involved in cooking classes to learn how to cook great food.
