Resumo: (ESC Volunteering Team)
The Youth Center is the northern-most of the nine national youth centers in Finland. Youth Centers are supervised by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture in the administration of government youth policy. Our actions comply with the Finnish youth law.
Finnish Youth Centers specialize in providing a safe and nurturing operating environment for young people to experience, learn, and have adventures that encourage personal growth. Our values are equality, community, tolerance, multi-culture, respect and protection of life and nature, social, mental and physical wellbeing.
Organization's main actions are camp schools, international camps, group work days for schools, training periods for special youngster groups, nature camps as well as arranging small meetings and parties. Our international youth work includes organizing youth exchanges, ESC-projects, work camps and international happenings and seminars.
Perfil: - Age 18-30
- Able to teamwork
- Motivated, energetic, flexible, able to follow schedules, and bringing in ideas
to the project
- Willing to work and play with kids and youngsters (age 5-16)
- Feeling okay about rural circumstances and location * :)
*Youth Center is located in the middle of nowhere, and surrounded by beautiful nature; big lake, forest, hills, and wilderness. Nearest village is 10km away, and there is no public transportation. At project time, it's midnight sun season so the sun doesn't set at all
and it's bright all night. This sometimes might affect and mix up the sleeping rhythm.
Tarefas: The aim of project is to improve the well-being and team spirit of local school-age youngsters, and strengthen the feeling of solidarity with the help of intercultural volunteer team and nice activities.
Volunteers plan and implement team-building actions, games, workshops as well as nice summer holiday happenings for kids at Youth Center, local schools, local youth house.
In the beginning of period, there will be 2-day on-arrival training. In this training volunteers learn more about European Solidarity Corps, and get to know youth center and in the area, Lappish way of life and Sami culture.
During project, volunteers learn and develop various kinds of working life skills as well as everyday life skills. Other aims are developing language skills, learning about cultures, and getting to know how is life in the far north

Accommodation in apartment with 5 bedrooms, and shared kitchen, common area, showers and toilets. There will be 1-3
people per bedroom.
In May-June, temperatures might still vary a lot, even some snow may occur. Working tasks include working outdoors, so
pack warm clothes! :)
