Perfil: Age: 18-30
We are lookig for young and motivated people that are not scared of phisycal work! That's a must, since the project will be mostly carried out in a vegetable garden.
The organization works for the achievement of social change and towards a fairer society. Our joint work encompasses several minor actions aimed at educating and raising awareness among people in the local community; promoting solidarity among and towards the migrant population; promoting the Development Sustainable Goals, by focusing on the environment, and promoting responsible consumption and production.
Therefore, volunteers need to participate fully in the project, having the desire to actively contribute and agree on the goals. Under these conditions, the experience can become an opportunity to determine the human and professional growth of the volunteer.
Experiences and competencies: Considering the tasks that will be assigned, the volunteer has to be perfectly able and happy to do physical and hard work in the vegetable organic garden. At the same time, it’s preferable thatvolunteers have past experiences of work, either volunteer or paid, in environmental education and are sensitive to and involved in social issues such as sustainability, immigration, and poverty. Spanish language knowledge will be especially appreciated but it’s not a basic requirement. We are open to considering candidatures from young with fewer opportunities too.
Personality: Generally, we need positive, flexible and willing people able to work in-group and in a multicultural context
Tarefas: The main activity will be working in a vegetable organic garden that grows seasonal vegetables (potatoes, cabbage, onions, pumpkins, etc.) and boosting ethical purchasing groups, contributing to awareness-raising of responsible consumption and production. The volunteer should be aware that the work will be strictly physical. However, depending on the characteristics of each volunteer, there will be space to promote a green network, by collaborating with other organizations in both education and communication activities.
The volunteer will work two days in the organic garden. The other three days of the week the volunteer will be involved in 2 addictional area of action.
2 ADDITIONAL AREAS OF ACTION
Social Action Area. The volunteer will actively participate in carrying out a variety of daily activities to support a local association that takes care of people with intellectual disabilities. In particular the volunteer will take part in the free time activities (cooking lessons, basketball, futboll, theatre, ecc..). Moreover, there's the opportunity for the volunteer to take part in Primary and Secondary after-school activities for migrants' children.
Administrative, Organisational, Education and Awerness Areas. The volunteer will be involved in the promotion, organization and fruition of trade fairs and charity events promoted by the organization; In the planning and implementation of educational activities for and with children both in the main city and its province; and for supporting the back office and the warehouse management (installation and removal of exhibitions and warehouse maintenance).
