Resumo: (ecological farm)

The hosting organization is an independent non-profit association of individuals who foster artistic production, youth work, creative informal education and interdisciplinary communitarian actions on the fields of sustainable development, environmental and social justice: biodynamical agriculture, social ecology, arts, hand craft, natural construction, and fair trade. We focus on the active preservation and promotion of the local natural and cultural heritage of Slovene rural areas, especially the biodiversity, landscape architecture, micro farming, storytelling, herbal medicine, and traditional house building with clay.

Our main mission is to combine the local heritage with contemporary approaches and artistic research, based on originality, innovation, modern know-how, and creativity.

The hosting organization operates on 4 hectares of ecological property with gardens, fields, orchards, vineyards, and a forest. These 4 hectares serve as a platform for all sorts of alternative and informal education, as a center of creative social integration, inter-generational collaboration and a non-stop knowledge exchange.

Perfil: Age: 18-30
We're looking for proactive, engaged and curious persons who like to share and live in a community. Are you interested in concrete practices of sustainable living, preservation of nature and food production? The obstacles are only the additional incentives for your creativity, and you are not afraid of some physical work outdoors? We especially foster arts and creativity, so we are a good place for all who like storytelling, writing, journalism, photography, or visual arts. You should not be afraid of animals (like hens, bees, mini sheep), nature, team work, and of living in a rural place.

Tarefas: Summer agri/cultural volunteering project on the ecological farm. At our farm, we combine youth work&arts&social engagement&farming. The main activities of the volunteering project will be divided between the care for the farm and regular activities of youth work of our NGO. While with us, you will deal with: traditional meadow orchard
*prunes, apples, peers*lavender*vineyard*hazelnuts*walnuts*blackcurrant*elder trees*bees*hens*mini sheep*wildlife/habitats inventory and monitoring*creative writing*storytelling*photography*public library under the treetops*natural construction with earth.
If you want a very good, practical and communicative introduction to organic farming, agroecology and eco-activism in global perspective, with practical introduction to fruit growing, herbs, wine making and basic gardening: you’re in the right place!

Condições: All 5 volunteers will live in the rural village on the property in the independent 3-rooms flat. The flat has its own kitchen with the direct exit to the vast terrace, a bathroom with washing machine and different options for the arrangement of beds. During the summer also possible options of sleeping in caravans or tents. We provide 100% organic food for lunch, you take care for your breakfast&dinner (we supply 100% organic&local). Regular buses to Maribor depart 500m from the farm. Bikes are provided.
