Resumo: (environment, agriculture)
The eco-village was founded on the 5th of July 1930; inspired by the anthropological musings of Austrian philosopher, Rudolf Steiner, Sesselja aimed to create a settlement based around the values of individualism, sustainable living and caring for those with learning difficulties.
The organization is an eco-village in Iceland and is renowned for its ecological, artistic, and international community ethics. Its current population size is about 100 people.
Now powered with thermal and solar energy, the village is fully sustainable, boasting a greenhouse, an arboretum, egg-laying facilities, and forestry programs.

Perfil: Age: 18-30
with good knowledge or education in the field of Agriculture or Environmental Science

You should be prepared for unfriendly weather, as they say: if you don’t like the Icelandic weather, just wait 5 minutes it might change.

Tarefas: ● Coordinate Project Participants
● Organize house schedule, leisure activities, and shopping list, supervise cooking sessions, and plan excursions.
● Apart from these additional responsibilities, you will participate in general activities as a volunteer. In this project. Projects are organized with international volunteers. The workcamp leaders will work as a team under the supervision of the Project Manager of the organization, and the Manager.

The main work in this project will be in forestry and also in the greenhouses.
The main activities, but not limited to are; Forestry; managing, planting, using, conserving, and repairing forests, woodlands, and associated resources for human and environmental benefits. Agriculture: cultivating soil; planting; raising, and harvesting crops. Horticulture: growing fruits, vegetables, and plants. Environmental work around the property (Renovation when needed)

*During winter the work might include snowplowing. Participants might require to help in the workshops.

Horário: Working hours are 09.00 to 16.00 with one hour break for lunch and there are some coffee breaks as well

Condições: Volunteers will be staying in the house. The house is across the village and has 4 double rooms with a private bathroom each, a fully equipped kitchen, and common areas. The common areas are shared with some of the local workers.
Volunteers need to bring their own sleeping bags, but beds and sheets are provided.
Wireless internet access is provided free of charge.

Food is included for the duration of the work camp; however, everyone is expected to do their fair share of the cooking and cleaning. We provide a well-balanced and healthy variety of food products that includes a wide variety of whole grains, seasonal fruits & vegetables, pantry staples, and dairy products. We try to reduce our carbon footprint on the planet by cutting down our meat intake and we usually encourage volunteers to try more sustainable foods.
The shopping gest deliver every Monday, and the Camp Leaders have to make the shopping list so we can deliver the ingredients.
Breakfast is free. Lunch is served at the Cafeteria. Dinner is a group activity
