Resumo: The project will focus primarily on media through YMCA Bitola’s Y-Movie program and NotifY newsletter. Both programs were established several years ago and we are looking for opportunities for further program development while also providing and sharing our experience and resources in order to support the EVS volunteers in promoting different cultures, traditions and nations. In addition, we expect the volunteers will support YMCA Bitola in its other activities.

Y-Movie is a program that involves going out in the field, recording and documenting the work of all YMCA Bitola programs and bigger events. Also this program works on making films about other youth initiatives. Y-Movie is available to all young people, other YMCAs, non-profit organizations and everyone who wants to bring the visual expression of their own events to a higher level.

NotifY is YMCA Bitola’s newsletter which covers the interesting work and activities which happen at YMCA Bitola, written for all our members, partners and colleagues. The newsletter comes out every three months (since January 2003), prepared by a team of
YMCA Bitola volunteers. It is distributed for free in an electronic format via e-mail.

Perfil: Speak good English
Most of the youth in Bitola and in Macedonia speak English very well. There will be communication problem if the volunteer doesn’t speak English well. This is the most important criterion and your English language capabilities this may be checked if you are pre-selected to do EVS at YMCA Bitola.

Be enthusiastic and motivated
A project that last for 9 months is in need of motivated volunteers. Please show us in your application why you want to join the project and the host organization.

Be proactive
We expect the volunteer to work with us to come up with clear goals and expectations and make the most from his/her time in the EVS. That also means personal involvement in improving own EVS program.

Have an affinity for the arts
Because this position involves working with videos, photos and graphic design it will be helpful if the volunteers have an affinity for the arts and experience working with artistic
forms of expression.

Be able to find a sending organization or be member of one
It is important for the project that there is respected sending organization which prepares you to join this EVS project. They will provide you with a pre-departure training.

Tarefas: Activities
- Attend basic training for using cameras and digital equipment
- Attend advanced training for using cameras and digital equipment
- Attend basic training for video editing
- Attend basic training for graphic design
- Recording and editing short videos and movies (YMCA Bitola events, interesting
youth activities in Bitola, promoting causes that unite youth, music videos, own
projects)
- Graphic design of NotifY and other promo materials
- Organize presentations and promotions of the movie products and share them with
other young people in Bitola
- Organize video showing nights, photo exhibitions, etc.
- Teach about your home culture, traditions, and language via different forms of
expression (videos, promo materials, performances, celebrating national holidays,
international evenings, etc.)
- Write articles or make video on your own impressions to share with others
- Freedom on work on your own multimedia and other related projects
- Deliver multimedia workshops for the local youth
- Promote the European Voluntary Service

Horário: Working hours will not exceed 30 hours a week. The volunteers will usually have weekends off. If they take part in activities during the weekend, they will have extra time off at another time. For each month of their EVS service, volunteers can have 2 days off (apart from weekends). Other vacations may be arranged upon agreement with the hosting organization.
