Resumo: The project is located within a typical Lombard "Cascina" a former ancient farm, situated in the lowlands of the Po Valley, a rural area at around 40/50 Km from Pavia and Alessandria, the nearest cities. It is a beautiful and cosy building, which used to be an agricultural farm, the structure and style are still in tact. The community is composed by: 2 central habitations of around 740 square meters; the stable of 170 square meters used for the kitchen workshops and other activities; several hay stacks; a big garden with fruit trees, a surrounding area of around 55 perch.
Inside the Community all boys are receiving the following services (in synthesis):
- hospitality and residence
- educational and creative programmes, internal and/or external training programmes
- placements in schools
- language lessons
- psychological assistance
- cultural mediation
- promotion of intercultural dialogue
- development with family of origin, juridical assistance
- guiding to develop self management
- assistance in job search and placement possibilities
- organization of events and initiatives in order to create awareness among the local territory about themes such as minor's rights, intercultural dialogue, friendship between populations, international cooperation.
The Workshops and trainings organised by the team of the Community are in the following areas:
- cooking and taste education
- biological agriculture
- ICT;
- bicycle reparation
- carpentry
- In the near future we are planning a workshop on how to keep little farm animals.
The team of educators, technicians, art teachers and volunteers guarantees a full daily function of the Community which is operative for 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. The direction and coordinators are responsible for the definition of the financial and operational strategies, for maintaining contacts with local institutions and services and for the general project development.
The overall management of the Community is based on specific National and Regional norms and laws, on external regulations, the "Service Maps" and on other instruments for controlling and defining program development.

Perfil: Some elements are considered important and will help to realize a positive EVS experience, these will be taken into consideration during the selection process:
- some verbal knowledge of the Italian language, which will enable a minimum of comprehension / communication between the volunteer, the habitants (minors) and the educators (of course the volunteer will have the possibility to follow an Italian language course).
- eventual knowledge of French, Arabic or Spanish language could help
- better if not too young, which helps the volunteer to develop a pedagogic relation towards the minors in age between 15 and 17/18 years.
- strong interest for social, psychological and pedagogical matters
- eventual interest or competences regarding some of the professional areas of the Workshops: cooking and taste education, biological agriculture, ICT, bicycle reparation, carpentry, keeping little farm animals
- eventual competences regarding the possibility to organise creative and art workshops about music, photography, video, painting, theatre etc.
- availability to live in a rural area. The nearest, but important cities are Pavia at 30 km (with one of the most ancient Universities in Europe) and art cities as Vigevano and Alessandria at 40 km. (30 minutes by car).
- eventual driving licence

Tarefas: The volunteer will be part of the team which manages the Community and will be guided by an educator, his or her mentor.
Based on the competences and interests of the volunteer, he or she could participate in various daily live activities of the Community. A detailed programme will be defined with the volunteer in respect of his or her profile and personal project.

Some examples of activities that could be carried out by the volunteer:
- participation in the periodical meetings with the boys
- assisting at the educational activities during the day, school assistance
- assisting at the psychological support sessions
- participation in the weekly team meetings and in the periodical supervising
- participation in the training sessions for the educators
- assisting the activities carried out during the various workshops
- participating at / or organising the creative workshops
- collaborating during the daily housework
- collaborating during the organization of events and awareness initiatives about themes such as minor's rights, intercultural dialogue, friendship between populations, international cooperation

The first two weeks will be dedicated to the acquaintance of the volunteer and he or she will have the possibility to get to know the structure, the habitants, the daily live activities, the security measures, and the local community.

Horário: Example of a working week:
With the volunteer will be weekly agreed about his or her activity schedule from Monday till Friday, which could be from 8 till 15 and from 15 till 23. In both shifts he or she will carry out the same type of activities inside or outside the Community: assisting the workshops, assisting the educators during the training programmes, helping the minors with their homework, assisting at meetings with the minors, participation at creative and free time activities of the minors, preparing lunch and diner, assisting breakfast, lunch, diner and snack time, participating at the daily life of the Community. If the volunteer would like, he or she could participate as well during the free time activities (events, excursions) organised at Saturday and Sunday. Each Thursday from 14 till 18 their will be the weekly team meeting. And every three weeks, on Thursday, the volunteer could participate in the moment of supervision from 17 till 20.

Condições: Within the Community everybody needs to respect the internal regulations which give direction to a normal behaviour in every Family community: good manners, respect for the other, respect for taken agreements, respect for religious and cultural differences, appropriate clothing, respect for hygiene and property etc. It is forbidden to use alcohol in the Community (while smoking is allowed).

Regarding organisational and logistic aspects, the volunteer will receive:
- Food: breakfast, 2 main meals and a daily snack, according to the healthy and equilibrated Mediterranean diet and , if necessary, according to the personal requests of the volunteer (vegetarian etc… )
- Accommodation: the volunteer can stay in the educators room of the Community or, if possible, in the apartment for self management which is composed by 3 rooms and used for boys who are in the stage of reintegration in society. Otherwise in a external habitation in the village "Suardi".
- Mentoring and guiding to help the volunteer's integration in the new context and in the local community and support during the project activities. One of the educators of the community will be the mentor.
- Possibility to use the Community car in case of necessity
- Periodical meetings with other young Europeans who are doing a mobility experience in the province of Pavia (organised by CSV , coordinating organisation)
- Information about free time opportunities: the volunteer will receive information (newsletter, internet web sites ) about the weekly events and activities to do in the province of Pavia, Alessandria and surroundings (The city of Milano is at 65km). The educators and colleagues, most of them youngsters themselves, will be happy to advise the volunteer about the sport, music, dance, trekking and other opportunities in the neighbourhood

Formação: During the EVS experience we think that the volunteer could achieve knowledge, competences and skills regarding methods and contents of the work in the Community:
- knowledge about management and organisation of a Community for minors
- educational and training competences
- competences in managing multi ethnical, multi linguistic and multi religious groups
- skills in individuating and activating problem solving actions
- inter cultural skills
- team working and operational planning skills
- inter relational and communication skills as well as for working with adolescents as with professionals.
- Italian language skills, by the attendance of a language course based on the level of knowledge of the volunteer
- skills to live in a group situation and ability to create space for self management
