Resumo: The Association is a non-profit, non-political youth organisation recognised by the French Community of Belgium. The organisation proposes different kinds of activities, mainly based on volunteering and non-formal education: local and international work camps, medium and long term voluntary service, week-end workcamps, leisure time activities for and with disabled people, youth exchanges and local and international trainings.
Perfil: Age: 18-30
Tarefas: This is a great project for volunteers willing to join all sorts of activities and willing to meet a lot of different people. The volunteer helps organizing leisure activities during weekends happening all over Belgium with people with light mental disability (they can walk, talk, they just need a tiny bit support in the daily life to be on time, not forget their sweaters/coat before going out…).
As the volunteer accompanies the residential weekends, s/he gets to know many many places in Belgium. While being on working hours, they can experience all the folklore of the country such as carnival, medieval festivals, Christmas markets… They also visit many places such as castles, winery, recreational parks… They also get to travel abroad for one to two activities.
This project is also great to learn and practice French intensively while building up a wide network of new friends, as these weekends also involve young local volunteers (on a weekend the groups are: 2/3 of people with mental disability and 1/3 of young local volunteers). The volunteer is also involved in diverse local activities related to inclusion and environmental awareness.
