Resumo: (activities with children)
An alternative school „Schule im Pfeifferhof” is a non-profit institution initiated by parents for their children. The school works according to reform-pedagogical principles (Montessori, Piaget), which means that the work is oriented at the needs and wishes of children. The learning methods are based on “practical” work and on projects. One of the principles of our school is “learning by doing”.

Perfil: Age: 18-30
responsible and motivated to help students, and assist teachers; open-minded, active, initiative; able to deal with children of different age and social backgrounds; interest in alternative pedagogy; specific skills in arts, music, handicrafts, sports.

Tarefas: We try hard to prepare a surrounding for our children which enables them to make their own experiences, where they can do both, acquire cultural techniques and develop social competences. They also learn to handle rules and borders in a democratic way.
It is part of our philosophy to practice an intercultural exchange.
A volunteer is supposed to assist teacher in everyday school work, spend time with kids in after-school care. S/he has a lot of possibilities to develop their own creative projects.

Condições: The volunteer will stay in an apartment and have his/her own room. We will provide a ticket to use the public transport. The volunteer will have breakfast and snack in school from Monday to Friday and lunch from Monday to Thursday. Additionally, the volunteer will get monthly allowance for food and pocket money.
