Resumo: Long term project (minimum 9 month) – Starting in June/July 2012
(flexible). We are looking for 1 person which would be supporting the association in its daily projects and activities (social, youth and cultural), and which would also work in promotion of european projects and activities.

Perfil: We require a minimum of spanish language in order to have a better
intégration in the working place.

The profile of the people we would like to receive in our association would be the following:
- Young people aged between 18 and 30 years
- Young, dynamic, enterprising, active and participating
- With knowledge of the cultural sector / social and youth (with some interest or experience in those fields)
- What like being in contact with nature.
- That you interested in working in youth projects and be part of an organization.
- Have a basic level of Spanish so they can start to help with basic tasks
- Passionate by culture and youth, willing to discover new cultures and experiences.
- Willingness to continue to develop new projects within the programme Youth in Action

Tarefas: Volunteers will be directly included in our usual activities, but they will also have the possibility to:
- Develop projects on European level, through the YIA programme. We are willing to start working in different directions, organising youth initiatives, exchanges, youth for democracy event, and other project dealing with social invlusion, and using art and culture as tool for opening dialogue.
- Develop their own initiatives according to their interest and abilities. Once they will be confortable with the structure of the association, we will encourage them to start up their own project.

Interested volunteers will have the possibility to choose between 3 areas, in which they can colaborate, which does not exclude them giving a hand in the other two areas. In each area, volunteers will work both in the office, and directly on the field, helping out in the realization of the events, workshops etc…
Each one of this area is coordinated by the same association.

1/ SOCIO CULTURAL CENTRE

Volunteers will focus their activities in dynamising and taking part in the life of this self-managed space in which a wide range of activities are proposed for young people.
This centre is coordinated by our association together with a few volunteers, who are helping us to take care of the place, handle the day to day activities, come up with new proposals and implement the ones that have to be implemented.

Volunteers will:
-Coordinate all the activities that take place in the centre, and be responsible of the calender of activities (workshops, courses, spectacles, meetings, concerts, movie nights…)
-Support the responsible in the following of the logistic implementation of the activities, giving their ideas and opinion. They will also be given the possibility to propose and animate their own workshop according to their skills and interest.
-They will also help in the field of communication and promotion of the events (prepare the posters, handing out flyers, website, and social networks…)
-Support for promoting the EVS programme and providing information about the programme to interested young people: youth information point on European possibilities.
-Take part in the daily life of the centre: handling the bar during the events, helping with opening the space, and any kind of improvements which can be made.
-Helping to find new volunteers and handle the current data base of volunteers.
-Attend social and cultural events organised by Mojo de caña and other institutions and association of the city, which will encourage their integration in the local community.
o Through these activities, they will learn to:
-Organise event (production, communication,budget, contacts..)
-Follow the logistic implementation
-Improve their spanish
-Learn to work in team, and interact with artists, musician, comapnies…
-Group coordination
-Acquire non formal skills
-Improve their public speaking skills
-Improve their knowledge in the management of an association.

2/ MAIN ASSOCIATION : (max 2 volunteers)

Volunteers will be actively associated to the process of internationalisation of the association, socio cultural association and which actively work in the field of artisitc production and organisation of spectacles/festival, as well as in youth services.

Volunteers will:

-Help in traducing promo material of the companies and artists.
-Support in the inscription of the association within the european youth and cultural network.
-The volunteer will have the possibility, according to its interests, to support and take part in the implementation of european meetings in the field of art and youth exchange.
-Active participation in the diffusion and visibility of the association in the city.
-Logistic support during the cultural events (promotion, bringing the material…) and youth events (group leading, helping in the realization of the workshops…).
-Support in looking for new clients for the companies, promoting the spectacles produced by the association. He/she will be invited to look for festival in its home country, and establish contact between with canarian artists.
-Help in the social cultural project “EmbarriaT” which consist of preparing free time activities for young people living in remote areas of the city.
-Taking part in the different networks and platforms in which Mojo de Caña takes part, which will help him/her to get integrated and discover the cultural and social diversity of the city.
-Support in the organisation and collection of images and press archives of the association’s activites.
-Attend social and cultural events organised by Mojo de caña and other institutions and association of the city, which will encourage their integration in the local community.

Through these activities, volunteers will learn to:
-Designing documents, publicity
-Improve their level of spanish
-Use the european program Youth in Action and Culture 2007-2013.
-Improve their knowledge in the management of an association.
-Face problems with creativity, finding solutions in emergency situation (which often happen in the implementation of events).
-Know european network active in the field of youth and culture.
-Comunication, press and marketing.
-Managing and producing artistcs events.

FESTIVAL CIRCENSE (max 10 volunteers – between two weeks and two month)

Volunteers will:

- Help in the implementation of the festival. They will be involved in several fields, such as promotion, contact with the companies, selling tickets, information point, technical help (help in the coordination and supervision of the different scenes, transfer of sceneries, decoration…)
- Take part in the festival, if they like circus (workshops, debates, spectacles…)
- Coordinate the group of volunteers during the festival
- Help in the acreditation tasks

o Through this experience, volunteers will learn to:
- Design cover leter, budget and thanking letters.
- Organize the logistic and the the staging of a festival.
- Improve their level of spanish
- Use informatic and designing tools.
- Understand the following of the circus festival.
- Interact with artists and companies.



Horário: A typical day could look like:

Morning:
Organizing meeting with the whole team
Coordinating and following the defined taks.
Designing activites and projects
Afternoon
Participation in external activities, meeting with other entities or practical work
Following defined tasks.
Informal activities to visit the island and get to know the culture.

Condições: Volunteers will be accomodated in shared house, together with other volunteers or local young people, which will give them the possibility to directly experience the canarian way of life, in the centre. Housing, transport, and all the help the volunteer will need for its installation will be provided by the organization.

All volunteers will be given spanish classes, according its level.

For each of the areas of working, we will count with a responsible, who will be in charge of the volunteers, and who will make sure her/his needs are fulfilled, that he/she is feeling alright, and also will proceed to his/her training. Other members will also be part of the process of social, cultural and professional.

The first month, all volunteers will training and information based upon their tasks, their specific needs, interests and activities to be performed.

Risk prevention, as well as active security and protection of the volunteers will be ensured the following way:
• The organization has a full ensurance security. Locals are also ensured. We count with a security plan and emergency plan for all our activities.
• We are entitled with a personal ensurance for each of the person who is working with us.
• We are entitled with the third part ensurance for all our members and colaborators

We will give participants a short training on working risks.
The association is prepared in this field, and counts the EPI (Individual protection equipment) : glasses, gloved, boots, and security material when needed.

- TRANSPORT
Transports with volunteers will mainly be done by public transport. When it is in our personal cars, we can ensure that drivers are all over 18 and have at least 5 years of driving licence.
In the case of using bikes, equipment will be provided (lights, helmet, Equipo de Protección Individual (casco, luces, yellow jacket…).

- FOOD
We will watch over the volunteers in order to make sure that they have an healthy diet and that thet get familiar with the canarian cuisine. We will introduce them to the open market in which they can buy fruits and seasons vegetables.

SECURITY IN THE WORKING PLACE
The office is a bright space with working material. In order to avoid stress and bad postures, a small break is advised every 2-3 hours, so workers can relax, and get straight.

Likewise, we can count on an adequate preparation in order to ensure a safe crisis management.

Regarding the supervision of the volunteers, we will make sure that they feel good in their new life. In the case that they might have difficulties to get used to their new lives, the tutor will be hear to listen and support the volunteers. They will be a constant communication with the volunteers in order to be able to face any situation and to make sure of the volunteers’ health, well being and to turn this experience into an unforgettable one.

The association and its project have always been opened to young people with less opportunities, and therefore, we are able to offer them resources and experience. In our association, we can count with people who are trained and used to work with people in difficulties, because we are already organising project with this target group.
Therefore, any young people with fewer opportunity which would want to come to our association would benefit technical, material help as well as training hours, assesment, tutoring and personal following. He/she would receive informative material and knoweldge which will help him/her to improve his/her experience as volunteer adapting it to its needs.
Concretely, we have been working with young people who have had problems with justice, and other who are in correctional youth facilities, realising activities for them, bringing them in excursions in the mountain, offering workshops…
The project “Embarriate” is typically a project aiming at stimulating the neighbourhood of Santa Brigida. For the last 4 years, we have started to work with young people in risk of social exclusion, offering leisure activities, workshops, trips, and improving therefore, the situation in this area, giving them toold to get active and to keep on learning through non-formal education.

Formação: We will offer them the possibility to improve their self development, by using the resources of our association and start their own projects (workshops, language clases, cultural projects…) as well as spreading the concept of Europe, since living in an island makes it more difficult for its inhabitants to share the european feeling.
Hosting in our organisation, europan youngster will allow us to improve the quality of the projects dealing with European awareness, and will give us more credits and resources to implement activities in this field, involving local youngsters. We hope that it will open new space for exchange, participation and colaboration between volunteers and young people (member of our association), boosting youth participation through the project we want to realise in our local community.
