Resumo: (children with disabilities)
The hosting organization is a public educational special school for mentally handicapped at different levels: mild, moderate, severe and profound. The school is located in Bialystok, at number 12 Rzemieślnicza Street . The school receives children who are qualified to special education and possesses a certificate of retardation and permission from the city council of Bialystok. There are around 80 handicapped children in the school at the moment aged 7 -25.

Some of the students (with profound level of mental disability) follow the individual curriculum at home. The aim of the school is to prepare these mentally handicapped children to live and integrate with society and make the ability to be self-efficient.
Our school is involved in many interesting projects, such as: sport projects (footboll, athletics, …), cultural projects (theatre, painting, ceramics, …).
Primary School No. 17 is the oldest institution for intellectually disabled children.

CLASSES ARE CONDUCTED AS PART OF THE EARLY CHILD'S DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT
The school employs 52 educators, specialists in the field of oligophrenopedagogy, and 2 surdopedagogues and two psychologists.
In our work, we follow the principle of individualisation, which is why a team of educators - specialists develops an educational program tailored to the needs of each child. We provide all the conditions for optimal development, a sense of security and comfort. We arouse the interests of our pupils through various activities:
• extra-curricular activities
• active sports
• going to the cinema, theater, museum
• sightseeing tours

Perfil: Age: 18-30
We are looking for volunteers ready to collaborate with children with mental and physical disabilities. Volunteers should be interested in ecological topics and ecological lifestyles, dynamic, enthusiastic, and passionate about ecology. We would like to welcome someone with an open mind and heart.

Tarefas: The basic need of the school is that volunteers assist teachers during classes - they support students who require individual help during daily self-service activities, during their lessons, and during trips and excursions outside the school. It is welcome to join in the preparation of school celebrations - artistic and dance reviews, art competitions, support during sports competitions, family picnics, song festivals.
In addition we expect volunteers to do their own work - to conduct additional classes for students: - language courses in the form of games and activities, music and movement activities (in recent years it was Zumba), - sports, dance, theater, art, culinary and club activities - activities that volunteers would like to conduct according to their own abilities and interests, - language co -Promoting ecological lifestyle – reducing waste, awareness of ecological footprint of each of us, -Organizing educational activities and performances

Condições: The coordinating organization rents a flat in the city. Here lives the volunteer together with other volunteers or with students, has own room and common bath and kitchen. The volunteer gets a monthly ticket for city travel. The coordinating organization pays also the travel expenses connected with the on-arrival training and the mid-term meeting on the base of original tickets The volunteer gets from the coordinating organization money for food and pocket money.
