Perfil: Age: 18-30
Interested in Environment and Climate Change. Attended 3rd-level college. Interested in communications and working with communities. English language B1 or higher. As our volunteers live together and work together, we are looking for people who are flexible, mid-twenties and can adjust to diversity in cultures and personalities. Preference is given to volunteers with fewer opportunities. This ESC is a huge opportunity to experience the richness of different cultures. Must be resilient and able to cope with solitude. Interest in Music is an advantage in rural Ireland.
Tarefas: The project combines climate action with community development. It uses the enthusiasm and skills of our ESC volunteers to address the current climate crisis by promoting environmental and climate protection and resilience, monitoring energy production and use in Ireland and elsewhere.
Another objective of the project is to involve ESC volunteers in the management and development of our community hall and local programmes set up to support local older people and youth. This will give our volunteers experience in campaigning, social media and publicity, democratic systems and actions, community interaction and empowerment. It will raise awareness of ESC locally, and, as well as hosting, we will act as a sending organisation recruiting local ESC volunteers. Our volunteers will be supported through mentoring, supervision and training to achieve high-quality learning outcomes.
Condições: Independent living in rented accommodation with four bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, shared kitchen and living area. Private or shared bathroom. Adequate food allowance, car and fuel allowance provided for volunteers. The area is very rural and isolated, accommodation is in a village of 400 persons. Our volunteers are in general OVER 24 YEARS and have lived away from home. Work time is spent mainly in the community centre 1 km from the nearest village so very isolated. Volunteer needs to be able to cope with limited daily social opportunities. Also with challenging Irish weather!
