Resumo: Young Naturfriends Thuringia is the independent Children and Youthorganisation of „NaturFreunde Deutschlands“, Verband für Umweltschutz, sanften Tourismus, Sport und Kultur, Landesverband Thüringen e.V. and is working in the field of Youthwork since 1990.
The Focus of the organizations works lies in out-of-school education, participation and sociopolitical education, youth work, voluntary dedication for society and environment (voluntary services) and international exchange. To empower children and youngster to take part in society, to shape their own livelihood and environment is the main concern of the work of the organization. Children and youngsters are being motivated and qualified to step up for their own interests and to shape their environment, to take part in politics and society, in small as well as in the big context, local and international.
For more than 20 years now the organization hosts bilateral and international youth exchanges, as well as holiday activities, during which the participants are strengthened and actively involved in shaping the program, articulation their interests and implementing these. Voluntary leaders, all trained youth leaders, organize the program and work with the method of peer education. With the help of regular Seminar weekends and out-of-school project days about different topics, the organization promotes target audience specific education. Topics can be for example democracy and participation, sustainability and nature, intercultural learning or conflict management and team training.
Perfil: Age: 18-30
Tarefas: Tasks connected to experience of nature (25%):
1. Working with children and youngsters at schools and youth clubs, help them to understand how nature works and how to protect it.
2. Working with classes and groups of children to find individual ways to learn from nature, motivate them to play with natural materials instead of with computers.
3. Working in the community with the aim to build a station for young children to learn about and play in nature.
4. Preparing and reinforcing the activities with children and finding ways to interest children for nature. Developing new activities.
Tasks connected to democracy, participation and intercultural learning (25%):
1. Participating in activities with school classes and youth clubs. Working with children and young people for a better understanding of different cultural backgrounds and of their possibilities to actively take part in society.
2. Preparing and reinforcing the activities with children and finding ways to interest children for democracy and intercultural learning. Developing new activities.
3. Preparing and taking part in (intercultural) summer camps and youth exchanges.
Tasks connected to office work (30%):
1. Writing letters, answering queries on telephone and by e-mail.
2. Support the team with daily-work issues
3. Preparing material for group events and outdoor activities (ropes, climbing material, canoes, bicycles)
Tasks connected to other partner organisations (10%):
Naturfreundejugend is in connection with several other organisations which work with young people in several themes in Erfurt and nearby. The volunteer can participate in their projects and by doing this she can get a wide overview about the youth work in Thuringia.
The volunteers’ own project (10%):
Leonor will have the chance to realise her own project, if she wishes to do so. That means that she can set up any sorts of activity in the field of intercultural and/or environmental education with children and youngsters. However, new initiatives are welcome, as well. She will be responsible for these activities, but naturally, she will enjoy our full support.
In addition Leonor will have the task to write an online blog to share the experiences and to promote the ESC to the public.
