Resumo: (environment)
The Organization began functioning in August 2000. The purpose of our organization is the utilization of free time, informing young people about international and national programs, and the encouragement of their active participation along with their European citizenship.
Furthermore, our goal is to organize and support national programs of the partner municipalities, heritage protection activities of the environment and organizing summer events, festivals, concerts, theatrical performances, exhibitions in cooperation with the local municipalities. Through our activities we try to develop solidarity and promote tolerance and understanding among young people in different countries. Our priorities are respecting cultural diversity, fighting against racism and xenophobia. By facilitating joint activities of young people from different cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds, Orfeas aims to develop the intercultural learning of young people making Europe a friendlier place in the same time.

An important value for the Organization is to give access to all young people, especially those with fewer opportunities, to join European youth programme and other educational activities. Through formal/non-formal learning techniques and experiences, young volunteers will improve and acquire skills for their personal, educational and professional development

Perfil: Age: 18-30

Tarefas: • protection of the forest and the coast of Xylokastro in weekly base (keep the forest and the beach clean from trash)
• taking care of the natural environment of the town
• support the environmental activities of the municipality
• taking care of parks, the small harbour, the squares and the playground in the forest
• participating in activities which are prepared for and by the local community according to the seasonal needs, e. g.:
o summer festivals
o Christmas activities
o school fairs
o ESC Promotion Campaign
• Volunteers are free to propose their environmental activities and organise their personal project related to the main goal of the project.

In this environmental project the volunteers work with instructors of the municipality for the natural pine forest that is located on the coast of the town.

Horário: The working hours are between 08.00 to 13.00 depending on the daily plan, as for the tasks, they are given by a municipality officer, each day or as a weekly schedule. They cover seasonal needs and they mostly support the main activities of the municipality’s teams.

Condições: Food:
• the volunteers will receive money for food (once per month)
• they will cook at home in a full equipped kitchen

Accommodation:
• one living-room: TV, WI-FI
• kitchen: full equipped, one fridge
• one bathroom with washing machine
• three bedrooms for a total of 10 volunteers: blankets, pillows, bedlinens
• one big balcony
• cleaning materials for the house are provided by the hosting organization
