Resumo: The coordinating organization is a nongovernmental organisation founded in 2011. Our office, and also our projects and activities are placed in the district. The placement of our activities are directly connected to our local target groups. This district is known in the city due to its high unemployment rate and high rate of families dependent on the social welfare system, profiling a population with a low standard of living. Furthermore, many of the newcomers welcomed in Berlin for the last ten years have been placed in our district. Creating a high multicultural region, increases certain difficulties related to social integration of new families. Many of the youngsters here are early school-leavers or do not reach high education stages after mandatory studies.

Perfil: Age: 18-30
We are looking for two volunteers energetic and motivated to work daily with teenagers. Should be independent, flexible, communicative, open to other cultures, willing challenges and to learn new skills. The applicant needs social skills, and to be interested to work with youth in social exclusion. Interests in creative fields will be much appreciated. The volunteer must be ready for afternoon activities, since the opening hours of the YC are after school time, and sometimes work on weekends as well. In order to have better integration with the youngsters, basic German skills would be useful.

Tarefas: The hosting organization is a big, open and safe space where young people hang around with other peers and fulfil their free time with creative activities, such as graffiti painting, cooking, making music and many more. Through the informal education approach, we stress that this space belongs to young people and they manage it according to their interests in cooperation with our team; this way, they socialize with other young people, check educational possibilities and maximize their talents. The volunteer will support this work with the team and with youngsters. The team is eager to hear about your ideas!

Condições: A shared apartment 20 min far from the project is where volunteers will live. Volunteer will have their own bedrooms and shared common spaces with other volunteers. It will provide equipment for comfortable living such as a complete kitchen, full bedroom and home furniture, central heating and Wi-Fi. Volunteers will prepare their own meals. Volunteers will have a monthly ticket for public transport in the city and also the option to use a bike. A monthly grant of money about 460€ will be given (including food, transportation and pocket money).
