Resumo: The culture foundation’s primary task is to develop and support youth work as national and international youth centre. In addition, the aim of foundation is to cherish the culture inheritance of the area. Foundation is a background organization for Anjala Youth Centre.
The Youth Centre is one of the ten national youth centres providing services primarily for children and youth, teachers, trainers, youth workers and other educators. The national youth centres have a non-profit civil responsibility to support good life for children and youth. Youth Centre provides camp schools and other camps, camps for children and youth, adventure days for all and many other tailored events from request.
The youth centre provides different kinds of activities mainly for children and young people all around the year. We are hosting several international groups every year and our staff is used to work among people with multicultural backgrounds. Youth centre has hosted previously two long- term EVS-volunteers; one coordinated by youth centre itself and other coordinated by The City of Kouvola Youth Services.
ESC-project is organized by the work team of the Youth Centre. There is a named person who is responsible for international projects and leading the ESC- project. The instructor team of Anjala Youth Centre consists of 6-8 workers who are responsible for planning, organizing and instructing activities for our customers. Our instructor team is educated and trained to carry out many kind of projects by itself and also co-operating with different organizations. Our employers on the other sectors; office workers, kitchen staff, janitor and cleaners are also strongly involved in action that instruction team produces and also work in ESC projects and with volunteers.

Tarefas: ESC project will be connected to daily work of the Youth Centre. Volunteer`s main job is to work with Anjala Youth Centre youth workers. When there are visiting groups volunteer is working as a part of the instructing team and when there is no instructing work to do then with the staff from other sectors: kitchen, cleaning and janitor. Instructing work happens among the local youngsters in environmental school days with local classes, camp schools and other children/youth camps that will visit at Anjala during the volunteer time. Volunteers will be part of work team where they can develop different instructing methods and also learn creative ways to teach and guide.
That way we may offer volunteers a chance to not only learn from the Finnish culture but also give something from themselves and their culture to Youth Centre`s work community and to our young customers. The volunteers are not left alone while working. They have always responsible person from youth centre staff beside them.
When there comes time with no group in the youth centre volunteers will take part to tasks like fixing and repairing the instruction places or helping in the kitchen or cleaning sector.
We think that this project hit the goal of Erasmus + programs to improve the possibilities of youngsters to improve their personal skills and development from the point of volunteers. Considering the work that volunteers will do we also offer our young visitors/ customers a chance to encounter of cultures. The presence of volunteers bring new global dimension to our daily work which we think will be a great way to also develop our youth work methods.
Through the ESC-project we want to follow our set target to support the growth of young and children as curious world citizens from a point of volunteers, Youth Centre and partner organizations that are involved.
The main activity for this project is volunteer´s participation to daily work of the Youth Centre instruction team that consist of 6-8 youth workers, cleaners, kitchen staff and janitor.
