Resumo: (Theatre Association)
In 2000, the Youth Theatre Association was created as a non-profit organisation to bring together all the former and current students of a local theatre school in the same city. The main objective of the Association is to promote cultural and artistic initiatives without political, religious or lucrative intentions, and always trying to create an intercultural framework for the participation, understanding and inclusion of all its members, La Rioja society and the youth in general.
According to this, the main objectives of the organisation are:
- Bring together those young people interested in theatre and dramaturgy through learning, experimentation and staging groups.
- Organize cultural and leisure activities for young people.
- Participate in events such as meetings, exchanges, contests, etc., at the local, national or - international level.
- Collaborate with local entities and administrations to implement theatrical shows at the local, national or international level.
- Carry out training courses, workshops and activities for children, youth and adults (intergenerational projects).
- Create specific work and learning groups to improve staging in any field (lights, sound, props, etc.).
- Encourage child and youth participation in collaboration with the City and the Department of Children and Youth of the Government to develop competitions and theatrical performances.
- Develop participation meetings that allow young people to exchange good practices, information and personal experiences.
- Perform open plays for private and public entities.
- Manage groups of young people who can participate in initiatives coordinated by other collaborating organisations outside of Logroño (meetings, youth exchanges, seminars, etc.).
- Organize cultural and free-time activities for its members (trips, excursions, visits, camps, etc.).
- Collaborate in the public events that the Logroño City Council organises each year (e.g. public Christmas or carnival parades).
In addition to these shared goals and objectives, the organisation’s board of directors proposes new drama-related activities and challenges that could be considered interesting for the organisation’s members. These new challenges or opportunities for participation offer all the members new forms of participation and learning, which improve their drama skills and help them develop their self-initiative and entrepreneurship skills. In addition, the non-formal and theatrical methodologies commonly used by the entity make all its activities accessible and suitable for any user, favouring the participation of young people with fewer opportunities, especially those with mobility, expression and communication difficulties.
