Resumo: (youth center)
The youth services is a local public body and part of the town's educational sector. We organize youth services that are provided by a town. In our services, we have 8 full-time workers and 1-3- hourly workers when needed.
The aim of the youth work is to increase young people's activity and initiative, to encourage the youngsters to life management, to participate, to have hobbies and free-time activities.
The leaders motivate and support the youngsters to become independent and self-confident persons and to take responsibility for their own lives. At the youth house, youth workers organize youth clubs, trips, visits, summer camps for children and young people. In the afternoon different kinds of youth organizations (NGO) gather at the youth house to organize activities mainly for young people between 7-15 years.
In the youth services we have youth house, traffic park for children, camping cottage, and the One-Stop Guidance Center for persons under 30 years of age. Young persons can get help in matters related to work, education, and everyday life, also youngsters can find outreach work .

An important part of the youth work during the school year is open evenings for the youngsters of different age groups. School youth work, visits, and special clubs are also important parts of activities. In the summertime, our main activities are summer camps for 7-10 years old youngsters and a traffic park, which is a traffic education park for children.

Perfil: Age: 18-30

Tarefas: you will primarily work in the youth center, as well as in general for the youth work in the village. We will have our old youth house until September, then we will move to a new place in town. In the youth center, you will support the local workers in all kinds of activities. Depending on the day, children and teenagers between 8 and 18 yearsold will come to the youth center after school or later in the evening. They visit the youth center in their free time and there is always at least one prepared program, which is a game, baking, cooking, watching a movie or sometimes disco. There is also a snack at some opening hours.

The program is always prepared in advance and of course, you can contribute with your ideas. There is also billiard, video games, air hockey, ping-pong, kicker, board games, etc. which the children and teenagers can play by themselves or together with you.
Depending on what your interests and hobbies are, you can help to create your own projects, events and courses. In addition to your main work in the youth center, you might also help at school, kindergarten, summer camps or board game evenings at the youth service. However, this varies from year to year and will mainly be decided on the spot and with some time.
You normally work between 30-35 hours per week from Monday to Friday. As this is youth work, your working hours are mainly in the afternoon or evening. Sometimes, about once a month, you will work on weekends. You can, of course, take these extra hours for holidays. You should be open to people and creative. As well as being able to bring your own ideas and interests in different projects. We are also open to organize new activities together with you.

Since internationality and knowledge about other cultures is very important nowadays, we think that everybody should have the same chance to gain these experiences. Therefore, the aim of this project is to bring internationality to the village Ylivieska, especially for the youngers.
We want to motivate and support our young people to speak and learn new languages and to organize international events for them. You will often talk about your culture, language and home country in different places. We will also organize for our volunteers private Finnish lessons.

Condições: Our volunteers have separate and private one-room apartments with a small kitchen, balcony and bathroom, in a block of flats. On the ground floor, there is a laundry room and a sauna, with scheduled times for each apartment. Usually we always have two, sometimes three volunteers from different countries. You live together in the same apartment block and have a lot to do with each other.
