The organization was a non-profit organisation run exclusively by volunteers that since 1976, and for more than 25 years, has organised camps and other activities for underprivileged children and young people.

As time went on, the street became the answer to and medium for the need to care for the children and young people who attended the summer activities and frequented the squares and streets of the Historic Centre throughout the year. This new philosophy consisted in being at their side and accompanying them in their own environment, without imposing rules or codes of conduct, nor using educational moulds. We tried to make the figure of the monitor a point of reference, one that would help them develop on their own terrain.

The coordinating organization organization was founded in 1987 on the initiative of a group of young people from the organisation who, once they had completed their roles as camp monitors, understood that more had to be done for troubled youngpeople with little prospect of work or those who needed real and practical help in order to achieve social and labour market integration.

Little by little, the organisation has begun expanding its mandate of action and services in order to respond to the different needs that it has identified, extending care to immigrants, families and any other group at risk of social exclusion.

The coordinating organization manages 2 Open Centers. It also manages a similar project based on the street (Street Educational Project). Volunteers will also have a Supervisor to support them and answer their questions

Perfil: Age: 18-30
We are looking for volunteers with some skills in Spanish (or Catalan) to help with integration into the project. We also appreciate experience/interest in the field of children and young people with disavatadges, but this is not required.

Tarefas: The daily work of the volunteer will take place in our centre for children, teenagers and youngsters from 4 to 16 y.o. with social and economic difficulties (family troubles or school absences). The centres provide educational activities during their leisure time (after school).
Volunteers will be accompanied by other educators to lead educational and leisure time activities, such as handicraft, computer, sports, games and also homework or reading activities.
Volunteers will also support the educators to lead special activities and to take care of children.

Horário: The timetable is from 15.30 to 20.15 Monday to Friday plus some learning activities twice a week (it could change in summer).

Condições: The accommodation will be in the city with a rented apartment shared by the other volunteers. The apartment is situated downtown. The volunteer will have his/her own room and the kitchen, living room and bathroom will be shared with the other volunteers. In the apartment smoking is not allowed. Electricity and heating will be paid for the Hosting Organisation up to an agreed amount. Volunteers will receive 170 euros every first week of the month to cover the costs of food and cleaning products (apart from the pocket money). Local transportation is not needed.
