Resumo: The hosting organization is a non government organization that its main goal is to treat and rehabilitate wild animals. The organization was founded at 2010 but we have been involved in the care and treatment of wild animals for more than 25 years as we are part of the Hellenic Wildlife Hospital that was founded in 1986, the first wildlife hospital in the Balkans.
Our mission is to contribute in the dialogue between humans and nature, focusing on respect for every life form on the planet.

Human activity constantly has an impact on wild animals, either indirect and long-term interventions, such as environmental pollution and habitat loss or direct interventions, such as hunting, poisoning and trapping.
We oppose these activities and we try to contribute to the protection of wildlife and biodiversity, as well as raise public awareness on environmental issues, focusing on environmental education.

Our main goals are:
• Rescue exhausted / trapped wild animals.
• Take care of exhausted, sick, injured, or very young wild animals.
• Rehabilitate animals that are fit for release in their natural habitat.
• Raise public awareness and educate our fellow citizens and their children through environmental games and presentations.
• Participate in events and festivals that aim to raise public awareness on environmental issues.

Action for Wildlife through its activities is trying to fill a gap in the society, as there is not any institution (neither public nor private) that is occupied with the care of wild animals, in Northern Greece. By taking care of wild animals we are giving a solution to this huge problem and offering the opportunity to the volunteers to come close to a wild animal, help it and learn how getting involved with such activities can make a change to this world.

Perfil: Age: 18-30
we are all volunteers.
Anyone willing to contribute to the Greek wildlife can participate in our group. Veterinary knowledge is not a prerequisite, however you should be enthusiastic, responsible, and respect animals.

Tarefas: You will participate in the care of wild animals, mostly birds but also mammals and reptiles. You will be assigned part of the daily treatment and feeding, under the supervision of an experience volunteer. You will also be asked to clean the spaces where the animals are kept.

Horário: The work day lasts 6-7h and there are 1-2 days off a week, depending on the needs and after discussion with each volunteer.

Condições: Meals:
The nutrition is basic Mediterranean (fruits, vegetables, olive oil, cereals, beans, lentils, pasta, some chicken etc.).
We cover basic ingredients for all the meals but the volunteers shouldn’t have high requirements and expectations.
Because of the fact that we are all volunteers and the funding is limited, we are not able to offer sophisticated ingredients.

Lodging:
Th:e volunteers will stay at the guest rooms of the center.
There are kitchen and laundry facilities, everything is fully equipped and we provide also sheets, blankets, towels etc. There is also a variety of available clothing and footwear to wear during the shift.
