Resumo: Our organization it is focused on youth work. We want to improve children´s and youth´s interest in anything through our programmes.
The organization is a school facility for leisure education. It provides educational and interest-oriented educational activities for pupils, students and educational staff, and possibly other persons, including an open offer of occasional activities. Furthermore, the House of Children and Youth organizes competitions and shows of children and youth announced by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and work with talented and gifted children and youth.

The organization is divided into 8 departments – science, sport, music, art, education, technical, dance and club activities. The main providers of activities are hobby groups and educational courses, occasional events, open workshops, camps and holiday events, educational programs, competitions, etc.

We offer around 200 leisure activities for children and youth (from 5 to 16 years old). Every department provides many activities for children and youth. The biggest department is Sport department. It has more than 50 leisure activities. The programmes run through the school year (from September to June). Usually the activity has regular schedule – once or twice per week and one session takes 1 to 2 hours. The activity is led by lecturer (mostly external member or internal employee). The groups have from 5 – 20 participants, in some activities (choir groups), there can be up to 50 participants. The groups (focused on sport, dance, music, etc.) participate local, national or international competitions during the year. Most of these activities take place in our main building in the city centre.

During the summer break (July – August) we organize summer camps and day camps. Summer camps last usually 1 or 2 weeks. They are provided for children from 6 to 15 years old. It can be focused on something (e.g. art & crafts, fishing, cycling, dancing, singing, softball, etc.) or it can be for anyone without a special interest.

Perfil: Age. 18-30

Tarefas: Volunteer will have a chance to try working with children and youth through the leisure activities. Every day we have many activities – sport activities, arts and crafts, musical, technical, dancing, foreign languages etc. Volunteer can choose what he or she likes and prefer. We would like to improve their skills and give them chance to gain new skills and experience.

The main task for volunteers will be to participate at activities and help the activity leaders with it. It depends on activity, but in general volunteers will help children and youth in the activity if they ask for it of if they need a help (e. g. art and crafts – helping to do it properly, sports – tell them how to do it right way, etc..).

For example, our specific sport activity which we offer here is a softball. It is well-known sport in the world, especially in the USA, South America, Japan or New Zealand. It is collective sport for anyone without gender or age difference. We have 6 softball groups (from age 6 to 15), which have practices twice a week for 2 hours. Because we don´t have a gym in the main building, the practices take place in Ledenice (a town 10 km far from Ceske Budejovice). The gym is used in winter season (November – March).

From March the practices are at a regular softball field in Ledenice. Volunteer will use public transport to get there. Buses from Ceske Budejovice to Ledenice go almost every 30 min. If volunteers will be interested in sport, we would like to show untraditional activities, which we provide and give them chance to try something new and softball is a great opportunity.

Also we would like to show volunteers how our organization runs. They will be involved in daily routine such as a social media (FB, Instagram) – upload pictures, create an article, events etc. or coping, posting posters on our bulletin boards or sorting the books in our sharing library. We organize a lot of events, competition and curses for children, youth and adult, so we would like to involved and show volunteers how it goes. They will be helping with preparation, during the event and after that (e. g. upload the picture on a social media)

Because most of the activities happen in the afternoon. The morning is reserved for administration and organization work. In the afternoon volunteers will be attending the leisure activities. In any of the activity will not be placed in the main building, they will get an instruction how to get there. They can use local public transport (bus) or bike or walk. Volunteer will be working usually from Monday to Friday and weekends off. However, it may happen that there will be an activity or event happening on weekend. In that case we will give them day-off the following day, which we agree on together.

During the summer break (July – August) volunteers will be involved in summer camps. They will choose the camp and date where they want to be helping the staff. Usually one camp takes 2 weeks in row. They will be part of the team member. Every camp has the daily schedule. They will be taking care of children, making and preparing the programme activities with staff, going on one-day trips with the campers and make their summer like no other. Volunteers will never be alone at any activity at camp. After the camp volunteers will have extra days-off depending on the duration of camp.
They will be in touch with our other local volunteers – sharing their experience, make their own projects, helping each other.
We believe they will have a lot of time to create their own project, if they would like to. We are opened to new ideas, tradition, culture and anything else.
