Resumo: The hosting organization opened in November 2014. It is a private institution with two groups for children from the age of 3 years to the age before entering school.
The location is on the ground floor of the new student residence Campo Novo. This is on the property of the old, goods train station. It is convenient for the city areas. The institution offers care spaces with longer opening hours and full-day spaces.

The institution’s important interests are: cultural exchange, understanding of the world’s many differences and more sensitivity to the imbalance in our society. Children should see being different as part of their self-image and natural fact. The old categories like First World, Second World and Third World should stop being used. We should look at the world as a whole and act in this manner.

Healthy food is very important at hosting organization. Children stay at the institution at lunchtime where they get a healthy meal. So, food that is balanced, fresh, low fat and high-fibre and regional, organic (no chemicals) and vegetarian (no meat) is very important.

The hosting organization is a place where intercultural education (between cultures) and global learning go together. Our children learn that other cultures, here and all over the world, have different traditions (customs). They can also be aware that they are citizens of the world (have a global awareness) from an early age. Together, these things encourage the children to have an international understanding of the world’s people. They also learn the skills to be peaceful. This is the goal, already before they reach school-age.

Intercultural education is the teaching and learning of intercultural knowledge and skills. This allows people to have a positive opinion of cultural and individual differences.

The hosting organization believes that intercultural learning has the best success when children learn it from a young age. This is why the Kindergarten der Kulturen focuses its teaching on an intercultural education.
Related to the intercultural concept, the food menu is strengthened by the eating habits of different cultures and religions. So, while eating, the children learn about the smells and tastes of different foods from different cultures.

This is all because today we live in a global world. Many different cultures meet each other with different viewpoints and ways of living. For example, we work together, do sports together, live and play together.
