Resumo: ASA was founded in 1992 when Italian volunteers were looking for a solution for existing problems trying to improve the living conditions of locals. We have family support centers, kindergartens, children’s homes, etc.
In the “Centro de Aprendizaje” we try to support children from underprivileged families. Our goal is to teach them values in a playful manner. The service involves the children as well as their families, educators and communities in order to strengthen local development. Our educators work with around 70 children aged 1 to 5.

The project is located in an urban, but outlying and rather poor area in the north of Quito. The majority of adults living there work as domestic servants and construction workers in nearby upper-class communities.
The project provides education and care for young children and toddlers. It also runs several houses for children and youth from difficult backgrounds (refugees, migrants, children and youth with no adult safe referents).

Perfil: Age: 18-30
We need an active, creative, and sociable volunteer who likes being with children and youth. He or she should have a basic level of Spanish. We don’t care about the age or sex (from 18 years old). Extra abilities, such as artistic or musical are always welcomed and this volunteer can create their own seminar for the youth and children.

Tarefas: The volunteer’s tasks are to help the educators with activities including: planning classes and taking care of the children, playing, doing sports, singing songs, distributing worksheets, examining worksheets, preparing materials, playing outside and helping to keep the kindergarten’s spaces tidy.

He/She will be asked to help distribute the lunch among the children and to participate in our handicraft and English classes in the afternoon. Working hours are from 9am to 5pm including a lunch break.
They will work with children from 1 to 5 years depending on the class they will assist with.
There is also the brunch of work, that supports the houses of children and youth, accompanies all the activities necessary, from shopping to taking the users to appointments, and helping them with homework.

There will be times in which some other more tough field work will be required (if the volunteer is ready), such as helping refugee with other situacion.
