Resumo: We need volunteers to be interested in the projects they're applying to and to be aware that they are based on manual work
and collective life and that they are in isolated rural areas, far from cities.
We will only accept one volunteer of a nationality per project and we will try to have as many men and women.

The dates are not flexible.

The association develops different actions:
– Work camps for young international volunteers (15 to 30 years old). These are actions that assemble
about fifteen international youngsters around the realisation of a concrete work (restoration of
cultural heritage, environmental education, installation of communal structures, …) with the objective
of intercultural exchange.
– Hosting of volunteers during the whole year in a group of 6 to 8 persons (18 to 30 years old) that
participates in a long term work camp, which allows the creation of a local and regional dynamic of
promotion of the voluntary service with young locals (in colleges, BIJ, on the occasion of special
thematic days, …). Also volunteers participate in local development through animations realised in
partnership with schools, other cultural associations (theatre, carnival, circus, …) or communities (in
the context of the PEL, local educational project). Volunteers can be hosted in the settings of a EVS,
the civil service, the OFAJ, but also without any of these official frameworks, which allows a mix of
more different cultures are enriches the encounters.
The association is guided by an administrative council which supervises the permanent team made up of
employees and volunteers.
– a regional delegate who organises the work camp season, coordinates the team and assures the
coherence of the actions in link with the national movement
– a technical animator who is in charge of supervising the international volunteers at the work camp,
available for certain leisure activities, and who prepares the technical part of the work camp season.
– A responsible for hosting volunteers and other persons, in charge of the organisation of the house as
well as of the daily accompanying (administrative, financial, pedagogical) of the volunteers.
Beauvoisin is a village that has 3 500 inhabitants, situated in the Camargue at 35km . of the sea side and
60km of the Cevennes. It is located at 15km from Nîmes in a rural area in which the main activities are the
production of wine, fruits and the raising of bulls and horses. The hosting center is situated in the very heart
of the village where all essential shops can be found.
Even though close to Nîmes, public transport is rare but developing. There are many activities available in
Beauvoisin, offered by the municipality and the many local associations (tennis, soccer, karate, theatre,
cabaret, dance, …) even though some are not accessible all year long.
Beauvoisin is situated in the department of the Gard in the region of Languedoc-Roussillon. It is a very sunny
region, very hot in summer, rain is hard and the “Mistral” wind blows often and strongly. The region is very
much appreciated by tourists, thanks to its natural environment, the richness of its cultural heritage and its
still flowering traditions.

Perfil: Youngsters from 18 to 30 years old, in particular youngsters with less opportunities.
Youngsters from 15 to 17 on teenage work camps.

Criteria are:
– the will of the person to be engaged in such a project
– his/her determination to adapt to a new environment

Tarefas: The volunteer participates in the different activities of the association, being a member of . a group of 6 to 8 young
European and other volunteers.

– He/she works 30 hours per week on the long term work camp. The manual work can be masonry, indoor
constructions, gardening, …
– He/she learns to use certain techniques of construction, renovation, ..
– He/she participates in the collective responsibility for the organisation of every-day life, kitchen, cleaning,
managing the budget for groceries and for leisure activities.
– He/she has the possibility to take part in different local activities, work in school with the teachers, do theatre,
animations, … This will allow him/her to discover the environment he/she lives in.
– He/she will open up to other cultures, social, political, economic systems
– He/she practises a kind of intelligent tourism by discovering the region through its geographical and culinary
richness as well as through its sociopolitical complexity
– He/she learns or improves the French language in every day life and in language classes
The role of the volunteer is to give a European/international as well as voluntary and dynamic dimension to local
projects in order to mobilise the local population and to make them become actors of the communal life.
.Usual planning (changes are made due to special activities and the volunteers' projects):
(See joint weekly planning (scheme))
Approximately one week end per month an associative activity is realised: a moment where all members can meet and
open to the local population (information are given on posters or the monthly review of the village).
Regularly we organise evenings with:
– an international meal, for which one volunteer prepares a typical dish for his/her country and speaks about the
culture, traditions, everyday-life of the country
– a typical regional meal prepared by locals, with discussions around the project of the association, social,
political, economic or environmental topics of actuality.

Condições: Volunteers are hosted in a village house that has been transformed in a small hosting center: one flat of
an employee and the office, three rooms with three beds each, collective kitchen and bathroom. A living
room is at free disposition for the volunteers. The Bathroom and toilets are shared by everyone. Volunteers
and team members work as a collective. They prepare meals in turns for everyone, meals are taken together
at fixed hours.

To assure transparency in the recruitment of the volunteers we are committed to a strong partnership which
manifests itself during encounters with the partner's representatives during different activities, seminars,
evaluation meetings in which we take part.
No professional or educational training is necessary for our activities, but preparation for the voluntary
service is essential.
Collective life is of a great richness through the encounters it creates. It also means constraints on a daily
basis since one lives with persons one has not chosen to live with and does not know very well. House rules
are necessary to allow individuals to function together in the project, the project itself being based in the
village. Everyone will be able to take time for him- or herself to take some distance to the project or for some
stocktaking of oneself.
The person responsible for the volunteers remains available outside the collective moments and individual
meetings if the volunteer feels the need for this contact or if we judge it necessary.

Every volunteer has his/her own equipment to work in security; clothes, shoes and working gloves.
. The team of employees has the role:
– to guarantee that individual commitments in the project of the association are respected
– to make sure that the house rules are respected
– to provide guidance in the organisation of every day life (meals, respect of working hours, ...)
– to provide guidance in the organisation of activities (discovering the region, sports, culture, personal
projects, …)
– to provide technical guidance at the work place
– to guarantee that the bio-rythm of teenagers is respected (si accueil spécifique), as well as particular
needs of volunteers (emotional, educational, legal)
. the team of employees puts into practice the pedagogical project starting from common values:
– all individuals are equal: only the level of knowledge and experience changes, not the worth of the
person
– mutual exchange: everyone can learn something from the others
– mutual respect
– everyone is being put into a situation of responsibility in a reassuring context
– the right to commit errors: reciprocal confidence
. Means of guidance and evaluation:
– weekly evaluation with the whole group and technical animator and tutor
– regular individual evaluation in a rhythm to be fixed with the volunteer but at least every second
month with the tutor

– for the mentor: regular evaluations with the coordinating association, the partner organisation and
the volunteer.
.Modes of information and communication at disposition for the volunteers:
A computer with internet access is at free disposition for the volunteers. Different services are thus easily
accessible (msn, skype, …)
An unlimited wireless connection is available as well, which can be limited in case of abuse (illegal
downloads, …)
The telephone in the office (land line) is at disposition for the volunteers for 'official' calls (regarding a job,
school, administration, …)

Formação: We aim at the construction of a social Europe, for peace, respect and tolerance and for this we rely on intercultural
exchanges.
Our objectives in hosting volunteers can be defined on different levels:
– make intercultural exchange possible in all our actions
– introduce a European and International dimension in our actions
– enrich the experience of all target groups by a social and cultural mix
– stimulate local development by working with the communities and local associations
– give the occasion to young French and to the association to confront new ideas coming from different cultures
and give occasion for EVS volunteers to live this same confrontation
