Resumo: (Elderly)
The care home for old people is in the city. All health- and nursing care insurance companies and social benefit service providers accept the care home as an institution for old-age care. It has care supply contracts for all important areas of service. The supporter of this institution is the hospital charity foundation in Löffingen. This is a legally independent public charity; it is not for profit. The charity’s council is the local council. The leader of the charity’s council is the mayor of the city. The management of the old-age home is in the city hall.
The care home old-age care home (seniors) has over 50 rooms. Some are for individuals, some are for
two people. care home offers the rooms for in-patient support and care (person lives at the home fulltime).
However, short-term care is also possible.

The care and support of residents in the old-age home is organized by an all-inclusive (mind and body) concept. The newest knowledge is used in the areas of nursing care, medicine, and social aspects.
The residential area at the old-age home gives a lot of space for individual needs. It is normal to have
open doors and a personable life together at the care home. The living areas are also not locked!

An active daily organization for the residents is very important to the concept.
The nursing specialists work together with social care workers to help the residents. This makes allinclusive care home care possible.
The social care workers offer activities for individuals and groups. These activities are designed for the
wishes and needs of the residents.
Life habits from before care home are included in the daily life at the old-age home. These can include
cooking, baking and shopping. So, residents can continue their beloved daily habits while living at the care home.

The activities together with the Kindergarten (school for young children) make a lively experience in the home. The daily shared meals also build a more personable feeling.
Clubs and groups from the community organize seasonal parties; for example, Christmas, Easter, etc. The visiting service of volunteer workers is an asset for the old-age care home. This is a good example of the home’s openness.

Perfil: Age: 18-30

working with old people who need care. Some of the residents may also have old-age diseases of the mind (for example, Alzheimer’s). Volunteers should be able to connect with other people. They should also be comfortable in changing situations. Basic knowledge of the German language is helpful for the daily contact with: the residents, day-guests of the institution, family members and co-workers. Many of the activities are in German. Volunteers should be helpful and be able to work with other team members. Learning the German language should not be the volunteers’ only or main motivation for volunteering with this project.

Volunteers should write a motivation letter about why they want to volunteer at this organization. They should also complete the coordinating organization‘s questionnaire paper. The decision will be based on motivation. It will not be based on background, gender, language skills, or level of education.

Tarefas: The use of European Volunteers is mainly for the social care and daytime support of the residents.
Volunteers can co-design the daily programme. They are supported by the nursing support staff and social workers. This helps volunteers to individually use their skills and ideas. Volunteers can co-design important tasks using their own creativity.

Some examples are:
- going on supported walks with small groups
- support and help for wheelchair users
- co-design of healthful activities, like art design, singing, making music
- making small meals with the seniors
- decorating the living areas for the different seasons and holidays (for example, Christmas,
Easter, etc.)
- preparing events and helping to lead them
- making special activities for men

Volunteers should bring their own ideas to create and lead support activities for the residents. The care home workers welcome personal ambition from the volunteers. The workers give support to the volunteers for planning and running activities.
Volunteers are hired after speaking with the institution workers. The working hours expected of European Volunteers is on average 38 hours per week.

The volunteers and all workers at the institution must regularly help with some recurring jobs. This can
include:
 preparing the common rooms every morning
 cleaning the common rooms at the end of the care time
 care of the materials for games, artwork and other tasks
 preparing small meals (snacks) between main mealtimes
