Resumo: Vocational School for Social Pedagogy in Gengenbach.
The School is located on a hill not far away from the center of the town of Gengenbach.
The students are taught by a mixed team of younger and experienced teachers with various qualifications and professional experience.
In our opinion learning is not only a cognitive process of accumulation of knowledge but a lively process of exchange and interaction. Therefore we set value on cooperation in learning groups. To develop class communities study trips are inherent part of the learning program.
The teaching contents are not structured by subjects but by operational fields and fields of learning. It's our aim to acquaint our students with current and practice-oriented topics, to motivate them to self-directed learning and to convey them to essential skills and abilities. Therefore a large part of the schooling consists of action-oriented learning situations and educational projects.
Basic principle of the vocational training and the cohabitation in the FSP is a basic understanding of human beings oriented at biblical-christian traditions. Hence deduced are values and attitudes, which should form the culture of the school on all levels.
Outside the classroom experience is of vital importance for the vocational training, so students can apply under guidance what they learned in the vocational school.
This practical training is only possible in close cooperation between vocational school and facilities of social work, therefore a training kindergarten is affiliated to the vocational school.
Principles of our work that should be followed by European Volunteers:

Furthermore volunteers can take on tasks of child care in the affiliated training kindergarten. Volunteers can introduce their own ideas and abilities like artisanal skills, computer literacy, graphic design, mechanical skills, music playing etc.
In the beginning the volunteer will only assist the groupleaders, later she/he will take on responsibility - as far as admitted by legal liabilities.
Emphatically volunteers are invited to bring in their own ideas. Staff members will appreciate all initiatives to develop additional proposals for leisure time activities and will support planning and realization. Volunteers could develop their ideas for new games, activities or stories into a personal project if they so wished - creative ideas are always welcome.
Horário: Volunteers are expected to accomplish a fulltime voluntary service of 35 hours per week. Overtime doing will be balanced by additional freetime.
Condições: The host organization provides continuous monitoring, including easy access to the contact person (Tutor), regular dialog with the volunteers, in which the options for personal development and the interests of the volunteer are being discussed.
To prevent crises from occurring in the first place, volunteers will be given any training necessary for them to carry out their tasks.
Volunteers will be informed about their rights, regulations in the host organization, consequences of unacceptable behaviour.
In terms of risk and crisis prevention it is very important to keep all persons involved in the project informed to be able to act immediately in the case of a crisis.
