Resumo: International hot air balloon fiesta „Valmiera Cup 2012” & Latvian National Championship 2012

HOSTING ORGANIZATION: Sport club “99 gaisa baloni” is the biggest Latvian sport NGO in field of hot air ballooning. It unites 50 members, 7 of them – hot air balloon pilots. Club is known as the organizer of events for hot air balloon competitions and fiestas in Latvia, such as LMT CUP (1999 – 2006), Valmiera Cup (2005 – 2011), AB.LV Cup, Pre-event for 1st World Woman Hot Air Balloon Championship in Valmiera 2010, “Liepna from the birds view” and other smaller events. Aim of the organization is to promote hot air ballooning in Latvia; it is mostly based on voluntary principles. Organization has (or is using the sponsored balloons) 8 hot air balloons that makes us the biggest NGO in field of hot air ballooning.
Members of the organization are actively involved in all events organized by the Club. We are uniting specialists in field of hot air balloon competitions organized in Latvia and that makes us believe that we can teach needed training & skills for volunteers who will be interested to be in a group EVS Project in field of hot air ballooning.
COORDINATING ORGANIZATION for this project is Zemgale NGO Centre (www.zemgalei.lv) who is known as experienced organization within EVS hosting projects. Organization has expertise in hosting and sending volunteers as well as to do mentoring and training for volunteers so we believe that your volunteers will be in safe hands

Due to the fact that EVS project is a GROUP-EVS short term project, volunteers can get to know the program and use EVS for the second time in the future (long-term).
Number of volunteers & sending organizations: we expect 8 volunteers and max 8 sending organizations (aprox. 1-2 volunteers per sending organization).

Tarefas: Volunteer tasks: to assist the officials of the competition, to organize local events for promoting event in the city and to do school / university visits in order to introduce local students and pupil with the EVS program & the event. Assisting event officials includes participation in measuring teams (3 volunteers), assisting in the competition centre offices (2 volunteers), debriefing and launch master assistance (2 volunteers) & assistants for other officials (safety officer, event deputy director, and office administrator – 1 volunteer).
This is a great offer for volunteers who want to spend 3 months in interesting project with a possibility to join annual hot air balloon events in the future. We offer training for volunteers within the first weeks to get to know the tasks to be performed within the event.
