Resumo: The coordinating organization is a non-profit organization based on Christian values that provides services in the area of social work, health and education. The coordinating organization target groups are primarily people with disabilities, the elderly, the homeless, disadvantaged children, minorities and others in need. Presently, the coordinating organization runs more than 60 centres employing over 600 people, delivering services to almost 8000 users. The centres comprise of dormitories, day-cares, schools, shelters and training flats. The scope of SD activities also involves counselling and field work related to issues such as domestic violence, alcohol and drug abuse, exclusion of minorities or institutional care of children. Integration to society and access to open labour market are significant objectives when working with people with disabilities.
In the context of European Voluntary Service, the organization has the role of the coordinating organization. It believes that Erasmus + programme is an invaluable source of learning opportunities for everyone involved within the process. Above all, SD emphasizes the importance of informal education and encourages volunteers to work consciously on their professional, personal and spiritual development.
Perfil: As a volunteer, you need to be active, independent, however you should be able to work in a team too - and to be flexible and punctual.
Awareness of the diagnosis of Alzheimer´s or vascular dementia (manifestation, etc.) would be helpful. You should also have some experience with work with seniors and preferably a personal conviction taht you want to work with them. An empathic approach without prejudice to old and sick people is required.
Age: 18-30
Tarefas: you will participate in individual and group activities to help and support our users. From the very first time you need to start establishing contacts and relationships of trust. Also, you will assist during various activities - listening and individual reading, solving crossword puzzles and working with spontaneous interaction.
You will accompany users during walks within the centre and assist with moving them (just to help with moving, not drinving the car), short-term escorts and helping with dining. you will also participate in activities such as simple exercises with seniors, board games or assist in organizing one-off events within centre (thematic cooking, art exhibition, morning warm-up with users) or out of centre (social eventslike visit a candy museum) and also preparation of a music programme with dance therapy.
