Resumo: The hosting organization is a community space and youth node in Slovenia that functions as a meeting place for young people and increasingly for the whole community. The story of Youth Center dates back in 2008, when the need for a common youth space was articulated at one of the round tables organized by Student’s Association.
A petition for the founding of such space followed and a vision plan for it was written by young activists of Students’ Association and local Scouts’ Association. After years of negotiations with local government, a 300 m2 in the old monastery were given into use to young local people in 2012. Youth center was thus formed as an umbrella organization by 3 local NGO. Youth volunteers renovated the spaces and furnished it with second-hand and DIY furniture, donated by inhabitants and businesses of Idrija. In 2015, additional 40 m2 were acquired to host youth-led makers’ and hackers’ space.Today the aim of the community youth space is to encourage public participation of youth in decision-making processes, structured dialogue, youth mobility and volunteering, informal education, social inclusion and inter-cultural dialogue, creative and active free time …Several activities inhabit the space:

- Meetings:- Students’ Association- Scouts' Association, - Association for youth development2020 - Climbing association- Magic-the-Gathering weekly meetings- lace-aficionados and lace-makers of The LaceOther:- Season-related events (Santa Claus visit for local children, making Halloween masks, gift-wrapping workshops…)
- Humanitarian activities (collecting clothes and food for refugees, collecting toys for under-privileged children, blood-donating …)

- Daily center for children with less opportunities – social care programmeIn broad terms, main visitors of the youth center are young people (15 - 30 y.o.).

Perfil: We are looking for volunteers who are: active, open-minded, creative, innovative, responsible, pro-active and sociable persons. They enjoy working, have motivation to renovate, some basic knowledge of project management and a basic level of English (being able to make herself/himself understood by the others – able to communicate). The participants have to be from 18 to 30 years old, background and country are not relevant.

Tarefas: The aim of the project is to renovate the hostel and provide attractive offer from young people for (young) visitors that come to town, more precisely warm and welcoming spaces full of energy, innovative guided tours or something else the teams will think of in the process of planning.
At the same time, we would like to offer the participants to spend fun time in a group of international participants (18), to work in a team and to get learning experience which will include project planning and strengthening of different competences, useful in their future life.
Topics:
- technical renovations (such as renovating furniture, sanding and painting walls, doors and windows)
- design innovations (such as embellishing hallways, painting on walls)
- creating activities to do within the hostel for future guests

Condições: Participants will be hosted in Youth hostel and will receive pocket money (110€), money for food (84€) and travel costs.
