Resumo: The host organization was established in 1973 to provide emergency accommodation to women and children suffering domestic abuse and homelessness. The organization has refuges across the city, providing emergency accommodation for up to 73 women and 120 children at any one time. To ensure a holistic approach to service provision we also offer additional activities to support their move away from domestic abuse. The organization provides 24 hour staff/ helpline support, community outreach, criminal justice support, children’s services, benefits and debt advice, resettlement programme. In 2013-14 The Haven supported 633 women and children through our accommodation services and received 14,000 calls to our helpline.

Perfil: The volunteer should have attributes such as sensitivity, confidentiality, cultural understanding, and a non-judgemental approach to their work and life in general. Applicants must be over 18 years of age, subject to police checks, and to possess a commitment to working with and for women and children who have experience any form of domestic and/or sexual abuse at any time in their lives.
we are looking for EVS volunteers with different backgrounds but we are very interested in participants passionate about helping to organise therapeutic play sessions with children as well as working with staff across our six refuges, organising activities with the women etc.
