Resumo: The host organization was founded in 1998 as the lobby for children and youngsters. Today it is an austrian nonprofit organisation that is committed to the implementation of the UN Children's Rights Convention at various levels.

In the meanwhile 15 to 17 collegues continously are speaking for a child-friendly society in a child-friendly region.
A steering group of representatives of all parties in the Styrian Government and the Executive Committee support the team´s work.
The association Kinderbüro consists of 50 member-organisations of the children´s and youth´s organisation which do also support our work.

There are five fields of interest that form the basis of our work: Children-Rights, Housing/Urbanism/Mobility, Health/Environment, Science/Education, Economy/Media.

The volunteer can either work with young people in existing projects or programs (e.g. Children´s Parliament) or develop his/her own ideas regarding child-friendliness and concerning the tasks of the Kinderbüro. This conceptional work includes all steps, from planning the project to putting it into practice. After an introduction in our work he/she can decide together with the team about the project to work on.

There will be one responsible person for EVS-volunteers. One of the Kinderbüro´s staff will be on the volunteer´s side to help an support him or her. Our team consists of a CEO, about 15 employees, 1 EVS and 1 trainee.
Our team is interdisciplinary and consists of pedagogues, architects, social workers, projectmanagers, officemanagers, biologists, economist, students (e.g. law).

International volunteers get their own working place and all the infrastructure they need to work in our association. The volunteer will have an expirienced mentor by his/her side. There will be meetings twice a month with the whole team to discuss different projects and common topics. There will be also individual meetings with colleagues to talk about the contents of an upcoming project.

Perfil: We expect the volunteer to be highly motivated to work for and with children and to be interested to work within a multidisciplinary team. General computerskills are requested.
Age: 17-30

Tarefas: Projects where the volunteer can be involved:
Project-Children´s Rights: The cornerstone of our work is the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. e.g. TrauDi! - The Styrian Award for Children´s Rights. It is one of our biggest projects. For example taking pictures, interviews, research work, helping to prepare the big event and much more. Project-Education and Science: We are always a step ahead in topics concerning children and society. e.g. electromagnetic pollution - dangers and risks for children. The volunteer can research and provide information.

Project-Urbansim and Mobility: We demand the mandatory involvement of children and youngsters in all decisions that affect them! e.g. "Auf Kinderfüßen unterwegs" (to walk in children's shoes).

Project-Housing: We demand to consider the special needs of children and youngsters in their neighbourhoods and in community housing buildings. e.g. Series of lectures "Kinder(t)räume(children's-dream-spaces), Neighbourhood-Walks with children.

Project-Economy and Media: Companies are our partners in new projects in the fields of child-friendliness. e.g. watching out for child- and family friendly hotels and restaurants. Project-Health and Environment: We give children a platform to publish their ideas to protect the environment (1st Climate-Conference of Children). The exact working field and tasks always depends on the personality of the volunteer. We are open for new ideas and projects from the side of the volunteer.
