Resumo: The school has 262 pupils, with a fairly equal balance between girls and boys. Most of the pupils live locally. The school is a private independent school with government subsidy. The pupils are between 6 and 16 years of age, from pre-school to 9th grade. The pupils start learning English in the 1st form and German in the 5th.

Perfil: Age: 22-30

Tarefas: The activities will vary according to the volunteers´ background and experience. The school will provide a work schedule so the volunteers will be able to make use of their academic and language skills.
Two different forms of main activities are possible.

A. The volunteer engages in teaching German as an assistant teacher and teaching the upper forms science as an assistant teacher.
The volunteer will assist small groups of pupils, encouraging them to speak German in order to improve their oral German skills. If the volunteer wishes he/she will be able to conduct some teaching on his/her own.
As for sciences, the volunteer will participate in teaching natural sciences/ biology/physics depending on background and interests. This involves assisting the teacher with small groups of pupils and being responsible for teaching the whole class if desired.

B. The volunteer will be placed on our after-school programme, where he/she will organize leisure activities for the pupils. We especially concentrate on outdoor activities and put emphasis on activities that develop the children´s social skills.

The volunteer can join in activities planned by others but will also get a chance to plan activities on his/her own. A possible activity could be cooking together with, and for, the children.
