Resumo: The host organization was founded in 1990 and accommodates about 350 students. The School leads students from grade 1 to grade 13, ending with the degree of the German. A Kindergarten is associated with the school.
The Rudolf Steiner pedagogy pursues a holistic approach within children's mental and intellectual education. The curriculum is structured by the students' stages of development and aims at supporting and developing intellectual, mental and physical skills appropriate for the respective age. With this, the Rudolf Steiner School attempts to develop a wide range of knowledge, skills and abilities for students to cope with the ever-changing demands of society and the world of specialized profession.

The day nursery offers a mentoring programme in the afternoon for grades 1-4 and the programme of clubs for older pupils is currently being expanded.
The staff of the Free Rudolf Steiner school consists of around 50 members. Two members are directly involved in the project. Moreover, there are between 50 and 100 voluntary helpers working at the school.
The host organization is located in the northwest of the Free State of Saxony. The city and its 500,000 inhabitants became known throughout the world in the fall of 1989 as the center of the peaceful revolutionary movement in East Germany. It is home to the second oldest university in Germany as well as serving as an important trade fair center. Around 1 million people visit the town every year, enjoying the city's lively atmosphere and diverse cultural offerings.

The volunteer will stay in a living community with up to six other EVS-volunteers.

Perfil: We would like to see the following: Interest in working with children, autonomy, open-mindedness, own ideas. We are little focused on specific selection criteria, having a great potential of integration.
Age:17-30

Tarefas: The volunteer will mainly be active in the day nursery (grades 1-4) to support the staff during the lunch times and the afternoon activities (homework, games, special projects). According to the interests of the volunteer, he/she may also carry through special projects with older youths (grades 5-13) or with the kindergarten. The volunteer shall present aspects of his or her own country, e.g. music, language, games, handicraft or cooking. The volunteer´s own ideas can be realized in every-day work during the afternoons as well as in various projects, parties etc. The volunteer also has the chance to develop an own project during the year.

The opportunities for children and teenagers to acquire intercultural competence are scarce in the East of Germany. Thus, the Waldorfschool would regard an EVS-volunteer as a huge enrichment! Being a self-administrative school community with the support of 240 families, we are open to any kind of integration for the volunteer.

The volunteer can take part in a language course.

In addition we will realize several project days towards topics of integration of refugees / anti-discrimination / diversity - workshops, visiting institutions and organizations, contact persons. The volunteers will be asked to realize an own project based on the issues of the project days.
