Resumo: Our organization is a well-known Latvian environmental organization. Its mission is to create a social movement that not only supports environment-friendly ideas, but also puts them into practice.
We work to inform and educate people about environmental issues, to involve them and to encourage them to change their everyday habits to live a more sustainable lifestyle. Our main activities include social campaigns, non-formal education for children, youth and adults, entertaining/educational events and activities (workshops, excursions, presentations, games, discussions). The topics we are currently working on include climate change, sustainable food consumption, food waste, waste recycling, green guidelines for offices and events, and our personal carbon footprint.
The organization was established in 2007. At the moment, we are six people working in the office (plus 2 EVS volunteers), and we have a board of three people. We have a trusted network of about 70 local volunteers and hundreds of followers and supporters. We collaborate closely with (inter)national NGOs, local municipalities and (green) companies in Latvia. The organization has a good presence in traditional media (magazines, news portals, radio, TV), and is active on Facebook (in English), Twitter (in Latvian), and the local social network.

Perfil: IF YOU ARE...
 ready to spend a year (from March 2016) in Rīga, Latvia;
 18-30 years old;
 able to work as part of a team;
 passionate about the environment;
 ready to organize creative events and social/PR campaigns;
 and willing to inform and educate kids, youths and adults about environmental issues…

Tarefas: EVENTS & WORKSHOPS. Organize workshops (together with our local volunteers) on our Green Floor or during third-party events (for example: creative upcycling workshops, educational games, repair café, movie nights, excursions in the city or into nature, give presentations on environmental topics, etc.). Develop new ideas for our portfolio of possible workshops.
 PROJECTS & ACTIVITIES. Support homo ecos:’s ongoing projects and campaigns. You will be given a role in our activities depending on your skills, interests and experience.
 INFORMATIONAL CAMPAIGNS. Educate and inform people about environmental issues.
 WEBSITE & SOCIAL MEDIA. Maintain the homo ecos: website (in English and/or Russian). Write a blog. Post updates on social network (Twitter, Facebook, Draugiem.lv).
 OFFICE WORK. Responding to e-mails, copying/scanning, updating databases, preparing documents, participating in planning meetings, support Latvian EVS volunteers going abroad, coordinate international Youth Exchanges, managing the library.
 PHOTO & VIDEO. Document our events/activities and make promotional material.
 GRAPHIC DESIGN. Create materials (posters, flyers, stickers) to promote sustainable living.
 LANGUAGE & CULTURE. Teach language classes or organize workshops about your own culture for Latvians.
 YOUR OWN INITIATIVES. Be creative! :)
