Resumo: The City Municipal Public Library, welcoming EVS volunteers, will open for foreign guests wide possibilities for self-expression, creativity, educational and ethnographic activities. Volunteers will assist library staff in daily activities - to help organize events, sort out the books, take care of the fund of books, teach computer literacy, run language clubs for kids or adults at their own initiative. Volunteers will help to organize game hours, workshops, mornings of reading aloud, movie reviews. Gifted volunteers will teach library visitors a variety of crafts, paint, glue, will help staff and Internet users in issues of information technology usage. Volunteers can be involved in preparatory work and some stages of event organization. Especially important are the socio-educational activities for children and teenagers, as library often becomes a second home for children from disadvantaged families. Thus communication with volunteers from abroad will be a big challenge to them, especially foreign language learning, communication, access to different culture and customs.

Perfil: Age: 17-30

Tarefas: The work schedule will be flexible, compatible with the needs of the library and volunteer opportunities. As the City Municipal Public Library consists of 3 departments and 7 branches, volunteers will be able to work in different places. If necessary, the volunteers could be entrusted to work with a video camera, camera and multimedia. In the morning we’ll invite our volunteers for a cup of tea to share their experience, suggestions, requests in an informal atmosphere. At regular meetings we will discuss and monitor the work carried out, plan activities, introduce our library activities, services, ongoing projects; volunteers will have a chance to get to know the city and its surroundings, library branches. Volunteers will be able to describe their activities, daily life and their experience in a diary. Thus their organizations and friends will be able to learn about their life in Lithuania. Volunteers will be able to contribute to the promotion of library services and events (information, photos, video footage dissemination in various social networks and so on.).
