Resumo: The project will take place in central Italy, is a 22,994 square km region. The town is home to 3,734,355 people and 10% of them, 373 446, reside in Florence, the regional capital. The city has considerable economic importance, in large part because of its agriculture, industry and tourism. Health and social services work well and provide assistance to groups with fewer opportunities. The relationship between health and social services and disadvantaged groups encourages the social integration of volunteers into the rich social network.

Tarefas: The role of EVS volunteers will be to support the professional staff. EVS projects require different action items to be taken on by volunteers and volunteers can choose, in agreement with the staff, which action items they’d like to work on in order to grow in specific ways. The volunteer will not replace paid staff. Volunteers in the organization will provide assistance to our activity leaders in the many different fields that we have. They are expected to be a role-model for children and youth target groups. Moreover, we encourage volunteers to take initiative with their ideas and knowledge, proposing activities to discuss with their mentor. Constant communication among volunteers and mentors will lead youth from different countries toward mutual understanding.

Some examples of activities undertaken by EVS Volunteers involved in the organization are:
- tandem exchanges with Italian youth twice a month. The tandem will provide an opportunity for volunteers to improve their Italian. It will also encourage volunteers to teach each other work skills and share knowledge about the Italian and European socio-political environment. The tandems will be take place in different locations in accordance with the different locations of the different Regional Local Groups. During these occasions, EVS volunteers will also have the opportunity to have an EVS Volunteers’ meeting with their mentor. These tandem exchanges with young Italian people also provide an occasion for the promotion of the EVS project.

- protected area a plain around Florence initiatives. Since 2012, the organization has been responsible for the management of the area, which is excellent for the observation and study of biodiversity (bird watching, naturalistic photography etc.). Volunteers, in conjunction with the staff, will allow for guided tours of the area, educational visits for school children, and observation of the animal species present ("bird watching"). The area is marked everywhere by ecological damages. Volunteers will conduct environmental surveillance in collaboration with the Municipal Police in order to detect and suppress any illegal dumping of waste.

- assisting with courses on environmental sustainability and alternative energy sources for kindergartens, primary and secondary schools. Volunteers will shadow and assist the staff during educational visits organized by the association and during the summer camps organized for children and families in the area.

- participate to the organization’s project with the intention of creating a physical place and a range of services dedicated to young people of the area and their families.
Volunteers will be involved in all activities of the Local Group and joined by operators. Their involvement will be possible even in the daily activities of the Local Group and the events planned during the campaigns.

- development of other existing projects linked to “day-to-day ecology” and to sustainable mobility. Volunteers will contribute to the organization and fulfillment of initiatives and events.

- Volunteers will also be actively involved in taking care of regular office work , in the management of the organization’s website, and, based on personal experience, the creation of flyers and posters.
