Resumo: The volunteers integrate themselves in the activities which already work in the socio-cultural center for the neighbours of the district; for children (play-room, library, languages, puppets, story telling, handicraft…), teenagers (ping-pong, chess, languages, sports, dancing…), adults (expositions, dancing, fotography, cookery, yoga, excursions, city-tours…), public activities (journeys, videos), and activities related to the local and national holidays (Chestnut-Festival, Christmas, Midsummer´s Day…)

We believe that the cultural background, the different perspectives and ways of working which are introduced by an European Volunteer could be very interesting for the different target groups: senior citizens, adults, teenagers and children and could immensly enrich the work of our social center.
Thereby we believe that it would be interesting to offer to the volunteers the posibility to participate in all the activities of the centre, so that they know the work procedure in general. Little by little they themselves will determine which tasks correspond most to their skills and preferences and in the course of time the volunteers will define a timetable which is adapted to their personal preferences, with consideration the necessities of the centre.

Perfil: We are looking for young people who are motivated and interested in working in activities in the field of culture and free-time especially with children and teenagers, but also are keen on occupying themselves with the rest of the citizens. The volunteers should dispose of own ideas for the sociocultural center and be able to bring in something new.
We are looking for young people who are able to communicate, who have social skills and are enthusiastic and creative; people with own initiative and values and ideals of European identity and solidarity.
In addition to that, we try to host volunteers from different countries in order to guarantee the intercultural exchange.
Moreover we appreciate the education and/or experience in cultural and free-time activities.
Finally we consider espacially the work of the sending organisation because we think that it is of great significance.
According to the beforesaid, we ask those, who are interested in the project to fill out a questionnaire which includes a part for the volunteer in which we ask him to explain in detail his/her interests, motivations, abilities, potentials, etc.. The part for the sending organisation will include questions about the working process concerning the support and training the volunteer will receive. We would like that all of the volunteers will fill out this questionnaire, well-advised by the responsibles in their hosting organisation.

Tarefas: We want to offer to the volunteers an experience of socio-cultural animation through their integration into the activities that already work in the Sociocultural Center for the neighbours of the district: senior citizens, adults, young people and children.

The hosting organisation has experience in the field of nonformal education. This implies that the activity is organised in a way which guarantees the learning process of the volunteers and allows them to participate in the different activities under the supervision of the team. Their learning process is followed by periodical evaluation meetings where the acquisition of the target skills is evaluated.


The Sociocultural Center wants to offer to the volunteers the opportunity to:

- Work as a team with other teenagers and members of the center
- Learn two foreign languages: Castillian and Gaician
- Know the activities and services offerd to the citizens by the sociocultural centers
- Learn how to introduce sociocultural activities which are stimulating, innovative and of high quality for children, teenagers and / or adults
- Participate actively in the planing of the different activities
- Promote his/her country among the users of the center
- Learn handicraft, games and dynamics to stimulate the children and the teenagers
- Know the working process of a play room, how to plan activities, how to develop and evaluate them
- Develop skills as “camp leader”
- Help on training languages to the children, teenagers and adults of the center
- Know the working process of a library
- Propose and organise new activities for the center
- Know how a computer room for children and teenagers works
- Learn to be more patient, open and independent
- Know a new culture with all of its facets
- Learn about the importance of knowing other menalitites and different cultures for the personal development


Specifically, the tasks of the volunteers weill be to collaborate with the specialists of the center, the supervisors of the activites and the volunteers bringing in their iniciatives; without realizing functions as supervisor in neither of the said tasks:

o Collaborate with the specialists, supervisors and volunteers of the center in the planing, preparation and evaluation of the activities: designing of activities, preparation of the material, looking for resources…
o Collaborate en the tasks of upkeeping, animation and dynamisation of the play room, the library and the computer room, bringing in his / her initiatives and the resources of his / her own culture
o Collaborate in the realization of other activites in the center: workshops, dances, videos, excursions…, bringing in his / her personal iniciatives and the resources of his / her own culture
o Collaborate in the special activities of the center: Magosto (festival of the chestnut), Christmas, Carnival, special festivals and activities of the center, popular holidays…, bringing in his / her personal iniciatives and the resources of his / her own culture, for example by telling about how certain holidays are celebrated in their country or which type of traditions they have.
o Collaborate with other workers and Spanish volunteers in different activities of distribution of information about the Youth In Action Program: informative talks, workshops, distributing leaflets…
o Offering language help to potential Spanish volunteers who want to participate in the EVS
o Developping a personal project in accordance with his / her personal preferences, capacities and skills. As soon as the volunteers know the working process and the general dynamics of the center, feel at ease with the language and feel self-assured, they will elaborate their own project. They can count in any moment with the help and the coordination of the specialists and the rest of the volunteers in the center. These projects can go as far as to organise activities as theater plays, dances, intercultural exchange, cookery of their country, music, language….

The beneficial effects on the local community and the contact is guaranteed, provided that more than 85% of the activities in which they participate are directly related to the local community.

The general schedule of the volunteers will be from Tuesday to Saturday, between 25 and 30 weekly working hours, depending on the hours of their linguistic training and the reunions of planing and evaluation of the different activities in which they take part. In addition to that, they have two free days per week, namely Sunday and Monday, not taking into account the additional holidays of the center which coincide with their stay. An example for a schedule would be:

Tuesday to Friday:
16:00 – 17:00: Planning, preparation and evaluation of the acitivities
17:00 – 21:00: Play Room, Library, Computer Room and other activities of the center

Saturday:
10:00 – 14:00: Play Room, Library, Computer Room and other activities of the center
17:00 – 21:00: Play Room, Library, Computer Room and other activities of the center
