Resumo: The host organization is located in the town with 13.000 inhabitants city which welcomes 9.000 students or pupils everyday and which enjoys a certain cultural influence. There are a lot of cultural, musical, artistic or sports clubs. You can also find a theatre and a cinema with 5 screens. The city is famous for its Autumn traditional music Festival, and its local singers, traditional music players and story tellers. It is well-known by sailors for its rivers, and as well by hikers , for its magnificient landscapes.

Perfil: The volunteer should be interested to discover the world of handicapped people, pedagogy, and the school system. Dynamism, sense of initiative and of relationship, maturity to face a public of teenagers with less opportunities will assure the success of the EVS. Basis in french would be appreciated.
Age: 17-30

Tarefas: This mission will give the opportunity to the volunteer to get knwoledge and experience in educative, school and pedagogical support to handicapped youngsters. Through the practice, it will be a good discovering for the french educative system.

The law of the 11th of February 2005 for the equality of rights and chances, the participation and the citzenship of handicapped people has set as a main goal that disabled people should stay and/or be integrated into the ordinary environnement. This is why our organization has opened a Pedagogic Integration Unit. This UPI has now become a “Local School Inclusion Unit” for motor handicaped children. This ULIS hosts 8 young handicaped pupils, who are under the responsibility of a specialised school teacher and supported by 2 school assistants, every time they are not attending lessons in one of the 29 different classes of the school. The mission of the volunteer is to support these teenagers in their day-to-day activities and lectures. From time to time, the volunteer will also have the opportunity to present to the pupils of the school some cultural, social, economical aspects of his/her country, in order to provoque some exchanges. This will be linked with the projects of the school, and always be under the responsibility of a teacher aor a librarian of the school.

The activities of the volunteer will be :
• To participate, together with the professional, to the day-to-day support of the young disabled teenagers (moving around the school, settling down in the classrooms, writing, writing on the computer, personal organization into the homework, and eventually : eating, extra curricular activities, support for the homework), going with the children to some of the classes (80% of the time)
• To participate to a common project with the other EVS volunteers hosted: organising common activities about the topic of Europe in the town and in the hosting organisations of the volunteers, and make this project known into the school (10% of the time).
• To create some contacts with his country of origin, in order that the pupils of the school (including the youngsters of the ULIS) discover his/her country (10% of the time).
The volunteer will be integrated into the ULIS team: under the responsibility of the teacher coordinating the ULIS (Pascal Naël), and together with the 2 school assistants.
The volunteer will have to follow the calendar of the school, and will have the school holidays (end of October, Christmas, February, Easter).
