Resumo: The area of city District amounts to 2417 sq. km. Many rivers flow their waters in this District‘s teritory, including the biggest country river, various small rivers and rivulets. There are 162 lakes situated in the district and around 62% of the district’s teritory is covered by forests.

Perfil: City library is ready to host active and motivated volunteer. The library is visited by many different people, including foreign tourists, therefore candidates are expected to be communicative, able to adapt to different situations, have skills of spoken and writing English or Russian, because most of library staff has Russian and less peace of them – English skills.

All applications will be evaluated based on how well they suit the general profile of the EVS volunteer and specific requirements of the library.
The city Public Municipal library is open to work with every organization having the status to send EVS.

Age between 18 and 30 years old

Tarefas: The city public library is contemporary organization and new ideas and opportunities is always well tolerated, because public library is changing together with the local people needs and this process is permanent.
Through integration to the library activities (see bellow) the volunteer will have an opportunity to learn how public libraries operate in the country, specific skills and methods to effectively provide the local community with information they are interested in. In general, volunteer will improve his/her communication skills, intercultural and social competences learn a new language, improve event and project management skills through implementing personal initiatives. On the personal level volunteer will learn to live more independently, due to a new cultural situation find alternative solutions to everyday problems, will be able to handle pressure better and increase his/her comfort zone. The learning process will be ensured by trying to provide the volunteer with tasks matching his abilities and constantly monitoring the progress. Regular evaluation and planning meetings are foreseen too.
Volunteer will be understood as assistant, although fields of personal responsibility will be identified too. A lot depends on the volunteer and his/her willingness to be active and creative.
The field of volunteer activities will largely include communication with visitors and staff, assistance in organizing events, sharing ideas, assistance to the other sections and departments of the library.
The volunteer would be able to:
• Work and communicate with children and youth at the library’s children and youth section (sharing intercultural traditions, opening discussion groups, making event evenings etc.)
• Teach foreign language (staff and local community) through daily communication at work.
• New ideas, creativity, initiatives and experience relating to the work of the library would be very welcome and the staff is ready to help to implement them.
• Help in event organization. Library has organize couple festivals The library hosts events roughly once per month. It is also an active participant to the city’s events. Additional volunteer initiative will be welcome too.
• Cooperate with youth clubs and schools in the area, because the library keeps close contact with them.
• 2013 year Old city is celebrating his 600 anniversary and library is making publication of old and modern photos. The volunteer would be able to join this work by taking and editing photos.

Monday
9:00- 9:30 Discussion of the day’s work together with the supervisor
9:30-11:00 Library management structure and importance of personnel work (Theoretical introductory part; volunteer will get acquainted with the library staff, responsibilities)
11.00-12.00 Country language lesson for the volunteer
12:00-13:00 Lunch break
13:00-15:00 To assist in making new exhibitions of books, paintings, photos, or handicrafts.
15:00-17:00 Reading for children with creative activities, media technologies or educational games.
17:00- 19:00 Getting to know thr village and its surroundings

Tuesday
9:00-9:30 Discussion of the day’s work together with the supervisor
9:30-11:00 Time for communication with the library staff
11:00-12:00 Country language lesson for the volunteer
12:00-13:00 Lunch break
13:00-15:00 Creating plan for work in children and youth section (It could be language lessons, creative activities, reading promoting programmes)
15:00-17:00 Editing and archiving photo material of the city.

Wednesday
9:00- 9:30 Discussion of the day’s work together with the supervisor
9:30- 12:00 To design advertisement, invitations for events
12:00- 13:00 Lunch break
13:00- 15:00 Work in the adults service section
15:00-17:00 Activities with pupils in English (or other foreign language)

Thursday
9:00- 9:30 Discussion of the day’s work together with the supervisor
9:30-12:00 Work with library staff in our department in Pauosupe and help manage the surrounding area (cutting grass , scrubs, collect rubbish)
12:00-13:00 Lunch break
13:00-15:00 To assist writting a script (scenario) for event
15:00-17:00 Reading for children with creative activities, media technologies

Friday
9:00- 9:30 Discussion of the day’s work together with the supervisor
9:30- 11:00 Assisting in event preparation (making hall ready, placed chairs)
11:00-12:00 To design advertisement, invitations for events
12:00- 13:00 Lunch break
13:00- 17:00 Time for creating independent activity with youth (e. g. his/her culture, traditions presentation.. )

At the same time volunteer is free to create his own activities. We would suggest to do work related with literature, culture, information and reading promoting.
