Resumo: The host organization is a kindergarten located not far away from the city centre near by the river bank. The building is based directly by the walking/cycling paths. The park area and paths are rather calm and create a nice atmosphere. Our building also have its own garden, where children can play.

In our kindergarten we have 5 different children groups (they are based on children's age). We take care of children between 3rd and 6th year of life. For the inside activities there is an inside hall, where children can play during winter time/bad weather. we organise there also shows and teacher plays made by and/or for children, where we also invite different guests.
District in which our kindergarten is located is rather well connected with the city centre (15 minutes by tram).

The city it is a lively city full of interesting places and people. There are lot of students and possibilities for young people here. There is a number of museums, parks, concerts and lot of cultural events from broad field of regional, national and intercultural culture. Also, due to its location, our city is close to many interesting places in Poland.

Perfil: We post online a call for volunteers specifying our EI number. We use the web-site of the Coordinating Organisation to do so, as the volunteers do visit it often. What more we announce vacancies using the Youthnetworks mailing lists.
1st phase of the recruitment is conducted by the Coordinating organisation. We ask volunteers to send us their CVs, motivation letter and to complete a special form, prepared by us during last years. In this form volunteers answers questions about his previous experience and motivation to take part in our project. We also contact the sending organisation of the volunteer and ask them about their point of view and their preparation of the volunteer. Contact with the Sending Organisation is more important on later stage, for the future preparation of the volunteers we choose.
2nd phase is conducted by Hosting Organisation, in cooperation with Coordinating Organisation. Coordinator and Mentor from CO and HO examine together the applications of the putative volunteers. Beside preparing the volunteer well and fulfilling the obligations of SO within EVS project, we do not have extra demanding for our project partners.

We search for volunteers that are motivated and willing to dedicate their work for children. We do not expect the volunteers to have lot of previous experience in work with children. From experience we know that motivation is more important than experience in this kind of work. Work in the kindergarten can be demanding - children do not speak foreign languages and they can be time-consuming and demanding group to take care of. We need volunteers that like working with children (from 3 to 6 years old) and who can, beside supporting the daily work of other staff, show their own initiative and lead some activities. Due to the characteristic of the work basic level of polish language is welcome (but by far not compulsory).
Age:17-30

Tarefas: Cooperation with the teacher within the working age group of children – the volunteer will be provided with support of the experienced staff member, will receive information about activities he/she can make and volunteers ideas will be consulted with other teachers. Volunteer will be informed what is planned for certain days/weeks, so he/she will be able to adjust properly in advance to forthcoming activities and understand his/her role in them. Volunteer is invited to participate in all of activities organised by teachers of the kindergarten. Especially at the beginning (2-3 months) when volunteers level of polish is low, it is hard to organise individual workshops, so the volunteer will have more a role of an observer and a student in the group.

Conducting little language and culture workshops, for example: simple words in a language of the volunteer, songs, riddles etc. We invite the volunteer to conduct such activities daily, for around 15 minutes – like this children will have the continuous contact with the language and culture and will be able to learn and understand it better. During each day volunteers work will be divided between helping the staff, children and his/her own individual tasks. The volunteer should prepare activities that will introduce some information about his own culture, country and language.

As well we would like him/her to organise more activities about different cultures – depending on the age of children he/she will work with. The volunteer could make presentations with pictures, prepare songs or some words. We are open to host all these kind of activities and the innovations of the volunteer. Such activities can be frequent and short (10-15 min daily) or more complex and take part less often. We can also organise a special â€~cultural corner’, where the volunteer will be able to organise his presentations of a boards. We are flexible towards how these activities will be facilitated, as long as they are consulted in advance with the teachers.

Getting to know the methods of work with children and educational bases of the activities.
Common planning of each week of work, consulting activities with teachers. Weekly schedule of the work will be done regularly by teacher and the volunteers. We will also tell the volunteers in advance about our occasional celebrations, that they will be able to come up with their own ideas, or to take part in all preparations we make with children.
Getting to know polish culture, language, traditions( regional and national) throughout taking active participation in our workshops. Constant progress of polish language skills, based on daily contact with teachers and children.
Support of the teachers in their daily activities and taking care of the children in the group and workshops, a.e. preparation of celebrations, preparing art materials for children and presentations, organising the activities, trips, excursions etc.
At least once a month we would like to organise an evaluation, where the volunteers and teachers will sum up the monthly work, discus if some issues should be enhanced or improved etc. We would like the volunteer also to prepare short reports from his/her work (written, pictures etc). In this way we can all follow the progress of the volunteers work and we can all improve the project. The volunteer€™s tasks will be also collecting photos and eventual materials that will be made concerning his/her work.

In some groups the work is strongly limited by children s abilities to learn (youngest children). In this age children do not read or write, so their activities are directed more to general development rather than particular skills. In these groups the volunteers work will be more based on helping children throughout their daily activities (eating, dressing up, sleeping etc). Work in these groups can be slightly less innovated (smaller pool of possible activities), however it can be really rewarding. The volunteer can change the age group within which he/she is working.

What more Coordinating organisation hosts many volunteers – so one of the tasks of the volunteer will be to cooperate with the local groups of volunteers during local events connected with Voluntarism, integration with local community and support of the local activities aiming for promotion of EVS, interculturality and other projects within this field.
