Resumo: The host organization was founded to promote active citizenship and participation. In addition to our engagement around international mobility and volunteering, the organization is determined to consolidate the local social fabric through awareness campaigns concerning ecology and eco-sustainability. Commitment on the local context represents, therefore, a prerequisite for our past, current and future projects. Most of the started projects include the area. Nevertheless the sphere of our activities involve the whole province around it. The town is full of small and average size medieval rural centres.This area is located in Central Italy and is characterized by a flourishing economy based on agriculture, small firms and handicraft.

For the organization environmental conservation goes hand in hand with the promotion of eco-sustainable lifestyles: we consider local territory as a collective legacy in which good rural tradition and ecological development should not be disconnected. Because of this the organization started several projects in collaboration with agricultural and social cooperatives within the province. The EVS volunteers will consequently take part to these projects.

Hence, EVS volunteers will be hosted by the organization in this social, economical and geographical context. the organization´s members commit their selves to efficiently introduce volunteers not only in the organization and its activities but also in the social and environmental setting of the town and its suburbs. The volunteers will sojourn in housing structures offered as free use to the organization by private citizens. These structures meet all necessary housing standards. Living in collectivity will be promoted, for instance, providing private spaces but at the same time favoring the use of common spaces (dining room), in order to create a supportive and positive climate among the volunteers.

Our EVS project will involve 6 volunteers coming from different countries (two from Spain, two from France and two from Portugal)

Perfil: Age: 17-30

Tarefas: 1) The volunteer, according to his skills, helps the staff in the organization of seminary, workshops with childrens and disabled people and cultural events through non formal educational methods in the neighbourhood, one of the few examples of the ancient and traditional practice of building in earth or ‘cob’ in Italy. The neighbourhood is an ancient village made of traditional earth buildings on the outskirts. Some houses are managed by the organization: some of them are apartments for residential use used for EVS accommodation, the others are used like museum of the technical research and practical/professional training in the field of earth construction and associated traditional building methods. The volunteers helps the staff to organize activities that promote the conservation of earth buildings to encourage the revival of earth building techniques for repair of existing structures and new building construction and to investigate the potential of the material for low-energy, sustainable building. Volunteers will manage a bolg to promote their activities and the village.

2) the volunteer will organize environment lesson in mother tongue for the linguistic high school.

3) the volunteer will manage an urban organic garden, contributing to awareness-raising of concepts such as sustainability and food sovereignty which the organization, in collaboration with other local organizations, is pursuing currently.

In all cases the volunteer will have the opportunity to develop his own personal project, contributing with their ideas and experiences to improve the activities. This project will grow proportionally throughout the months, during which, the volunteers will enjoy a language training to facilitate the communication inside and outside of the organization.
