Resumo: In our kindergarten children gain an ability of living in the group, they get to know their community and environment. They also learn singing, dancing, drawing, painting. They encounter children a€™s literature in different forms: theatre, short stories, and poems. They exercise an ability of logical thinking, their memory, and perceptiveness. They gain basic knowledge in maths as well as they raise their fitness. During four year as€™ standing in our nursery school children acquire school maturity by improving their abilities and developing their interests, while they play and study. Form tutor, with an aid of parental help controls the development of the youngest children (at the age of 3). In other groups work two or three (in integrational groups) form tutors. Since 2001 our kindergarten is realising the EVS hosting project. During this time we hosted several people from different European countries which helped us in our common work and which brought the intercultural dimension in it. The total number of the staff in kindergarten is around 20 people. The city is a big and very famous town in the south of Poland. The old part of the city is regarded as a fascinating historic town rich in heritage. The historic quarters constitute only a small part of present-day the city which is now the largest urban development in the region. The geographical position makes the city an ideal base for excursions to the Polish mountains or the picturesque valleys. The town is also well positioned for national and internationals connections. The city is said to be the cultural capital of Poland and there are many reasons for that claim. The oldest polish University is situated here. There is a lot of academies here and a lot of young people studying. Many of them come from different countries. Theatre, film, music and festivals take place throughout the year and there are a lot of museums and galleries varied in character.

The intense nightlife can be compared to that offered by many famous European cities. Volunteer will find here a variety of music clubs, discotheques and bars.
Many leading personalities of Polish academic, cultural and public life were born here and many famous artists and writers choose to live here, attracted by unique atmosphere of the place enlivened by old traditions.
The kindergarten is situated in a quite new quarter. People living there have sometimes same social and economical problems.

Perfil: In the project the volunteers will work with small children and children with the special needs. Their work will require patience and good emotional balance. The experiences in the work with the children will be very good. The volunteer should be an open, creative, easy-going person, self reliant and good communicator. Good sense of humor is always a plus. Sending Organizations were coordinating the first type of selection. Final selection was made by Hosting Organizations, with cooperation with Coordinating Organization. This final selection was based on more detailed research and matching particular volunteers with their destination project. It was crucial for us, what are the interests of the volunteers and what is their motivation for this particular project. It was also important to chose volunteers with different skills, so that they can create individual projects on different fields.
Age: 17-30

Tarefas: The volunteer will help to develop daily activities with the kids adapted to the level of understanding of the kids, outdoors activities, sports for little kids, walking, short trips in the surroundings, foreign languages by practical and participative means. There will be also activities with the parents of the children. The volunteer will be involved in most of the non-formal activities of the kindergarten.

All our activities focus on the children and their interests. Program includes many activities like: education, arts, music, rhythmic, gymnastic, English. Each year our kindergarten organise many events: trips, plastic exhibitions, artistic presentations, costume balls ect. Volunteer will take part in this activities and develop his or her own ideas for leisure time activities for the children, supported by the teachers We want to bring an international touch into our activities. For this we would like the volunteer to play games typical from his/her country, sing with the children his/her national children songs. We would also appreciate to develop a special project to make the children more aware of the different possibilities of handicapped and not, different cultures and languages in a positive way.

The volunteer as has been mentioned will never be expected to work alone. He or she will always be supervised. In terms of working with special needs children, the volunteer is only expected to follow the teacher's instructions. No previous knowledge or experience is required and thus, basic following of instructions is all is needed. Of course with motivation and a positive attitude. In the preparation of didactic materials, the volunteer will at all times be given the necessary guidance by the teacher. The same applied for all other activities. The volunteer in this programme is a valuable helper and will not be expected to lead classes or activities on his or her own.
