Resumo: The association is located in the city centre, a town of about 32,000 residents. The city is the prefecture of the department. The Dordogne is a rural department that has an important natural, historical and artistic heritage. Agriculture and tourism are the main economic activities. The city is located in the Aquitaine region and has very good connections (rail, highway) with the famous city of Bordeaux, accessible by car in about 1h30.
The association is working in the field of Youth (training courses for youth leaders, support for leisure centres). It offers them workshops, educational tools, training and support for qualitative development of their work with children and youth.

The main aim of this project is to promote intercultural discoveries and exchanges among the local population and more particularly among children and young people. Two aspects are considered for the volunteer:
- help the Association to develop projects and actions to promote intercultural dialog and international mobility for young people.
- In line with federated youth and leisure centres in the department, to participate in the organisation of educational and recreative activities for children / young people - including an intercultural aspect.
Volunteer activities can be developed throughout the department and will be adapted according to the interests of the volunteer.
Children and young people who are in these centres come from all social and cultural classes.
The volunteer will live in a share flat with young local people, in the city centre.He/she will live in a furnished room and will share the bathroom and the kitchen with his/her roomates. The volunteer will have the opportunity to cook (and can be accompanied at the beginning if needed). The organization will give him(her) a mobile phone and a first phonecard (the following ones will be buy by the volunteer). The young person will have access to internet in his accommodation as well as on place of his/her mission.

The organization will provide bus tickets if needed for daily transport.
If the volunteer is involved in a project outside the city for several days (summer camp, excursions ...), he/she will be accomodated with the group (camping, family housing ...).
The Dordogne offers a wide range of opportunities for personal development of the volunteer: cultural activities in town (theater, cinema, concerts ...) ; outdoor sports (canoeing, tree, hiking ...) ; touristic and historical activities (caves, castles, museums ...). The population comes mainly from rural areas. Agriculture still plays an important role. But it is possible to meet city dweller and tourists: indeed, tourism is the second major economic activity in the department. The means of transport most used is the car. Public transportation services exist but are not very effective outside urban areas.

Perfil: This project is open to all young people eligible for the Programme without discrimination (sex, origin, religion, culture ...). The one and only criterion will be the motivation.
So that the volunteer can grow during this EVS project, he/she should show an open-minded attitude and have a particular interest in working with children and youth. However experience in this field is not required.
Knowledge of French language or specific know-hows (theater, video, sports, fine arts ...) facilitating communication and development of actions with young peple would be good but are not exclusive criteria.
Recruitment will be open to all. Information on the project will be available on the EVS database and announced to our network of international partners.

For practical reasons and for taking care of the planet, we encourage candidates to send us their application by email. The application can take any form but has to emphasise their interest in the project and their motivation.
The volunteer selection will be based on the applicant’s motivation and on what he/she wants to bring to the project. The selection will be the result of a close collaboration between the Association (employees, elected members, mentor) and the sending organization that shall have direct contact with the candidate. We attach importance to the trust established between our organisations and the volunteers.
Sending organizations working in the field of non-formal education for children and young people would be great partners because we also wish to develop other actions such as youth exchanges or seminars for youth workers on issues like education.

The selected candidate will be notified directly by email or telephone. All other applicants will be notified in the same way.
