Resumo: As a town with about 55.000 inhabitants is mainly characterised by the 12.000 students and 5.000 members of the local University. For this reason, this quite small town offers a high variety of art and culture. A great number of voluntary organizations contribute to this. In the well-restored old city centre one can find a high number of restaurants, cafes and bars. Due to the proximity to the Baltic Sea it is a touristic region with the motto "living, where others go on holiday".

Located in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, which is rather weak in economy and infrastructure, the town has a forward-looking position due the University, larger scientific institutes and a number of small, innovative companies.

Perfil: We prefer volunteers of age 21 or older who already have some experience with NGO work. Good English skills are welcome. Interest in leraning German or basic knowledge of the language would be an advantage for the volunteers' work. Volunteers should clearly state their motivation and expectations in their applications. Being able to work well in a team is essential.

The team which will be responsibale for the volunteers will review all applications submitted until the deadline and select suitable candidates. These will be presented to the whole team, which then will vote on which candidates should be accapted and receive invitations.

Tarefas: Depending on the volunteer's interests and previous knowledge, they will work in different areas of the organization. As a first orientation, they will spend some time in each of our five groups (Topic, Finance, Public Relations, Culture, Participants). Following this, they may focus work on one or more of these fields. As we consider and treat the volunteers as full members of the team, we expect them to support us in all our activities (e.g. tasks in the office, presenting the organization, organizing events and projects). They may be asked to help with a) fundraising and acquiring new sponsors, b) conceiving, preparing and carrying out thematic projects (workshops, debattes, etc.), c) public relations, recruiting new members and volunteers as well as d) planing and realizing cultural events. The broad range of our activities leaves much space to contribute with one's own ideas and to work independently. All important decisions are jointly discussed and made, for which reason the volunteers should be able to work well in a team and to integrate easily.
