Resumo: The School offers students the opportunity to grow and develop in a community of students, staff and residents of Flateyri and the surrounding area.

A stay at Public School is about much more than just studying and school. During their stay in Flateyri, students will live together, eat together, study, clean, have fun and be part of a community.

The community of students and residents is diverse and fun outside of school hours. Part of being in a public school is being together, supporting each other and learning from each other. Students are encouraged to host events and add to or participate in the entertainment and services available in Flateyri.

At the school, students get to know new sides of themselves and have time to realize their strengths and try themselves in situations and projects that they had not thought of trying.

In the Folk High School there are no exams, no assignments, no grades, just show up to school, enjoy and learn new things. Each school day begins with a shared breakfast and morning meeting. At morning meetings, current issues are discussed, the day is planned and there is an opportunity to put things on the agenda.

In a program where students are together 24/7, as is often the case in folk high schools, conversations and togetherness are intertwined with learning and project work, which gives students the opportunity to test themselves in all kinds of projects and make an informed decision about further study choices or directions in life.
